“Good choice for reasonable price. GREAT location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2007

+:
1. Great tourist location - near Parlament, StIstvan Basilica, Freedom square. Easy access to historic sites.
2. Easy access to metro and airport - 2 minutes to the metro station bluse line, direct connection to the airport by bus (from the end station of the line).
3. Historic building.
4. Good breakfast (for 3* hotel): 3 types of: vegetables, fruits, cheese, ham, yoghurt, jam; + boiled eggs, good bread, butter, tea, coffee... Juice (???) was terrible.
5. Well trained staff. ( we booked double room through the agency and were informed that there will be twin room only. On arrival for one night we were offered a suite instead of twin - but first they have contacted agency to give them excuses that we will need to move).
6. Newly renovated and clean buthroom.
7. New and comfortable beds and linen.

"-"
1. Historic building - thus all the rooms are unique and you do not know what view you will get. It might be the street (very quiet) or inner yard - not very convenient, because actually the window faces common balcony and this is not very convenient.
2. Old furniture (except of beds) and carpeting in the rooms.

Highly recomend this hotel for those who care about price and location.

“Good location, reasonable price”

The Hotel Hold is in an excellent location. The staff is pleasant and reasonably helpful. The room was large clean but older.

I stayed one night at the Parliment (Best Western) which was newly redone and very nice but twice the price as the Hotel Hold around the corner. The Hold was actually on a more pleasant street.

Trams and subway was an easy walk as well as several of the important sites.

Overall I found it quite good since I'd rather stay in a smaller hotel at a reasonable price than any of the larger hotels I saw in Budapest.

“Superb - Stumbled Upon it”

My wife and I stayed here as part of our honeymoon (also went to Prague and Vienna). We didn't have reservations ahead of time - instead just tried to pick a nice but not overly expensive area, near the metro and walking distance to other sites. The only small negative was that there was some construction going on across the street in the morning. It's on a very safe street, in the banking district.

The proprietor showed us one of the suites when we told him it was our honeymoon. It probably was a little more than we needed, but it definitely worked out. Just make sure not to plug your alarm clock into one of their outlets - it takes a different current, and it'll fry your clock.

There's a great restaurant about 4 blocks or so away called the Marquis de Salad - we liked it so much that we went back the following night.

Nice i did not read the other reviews - This Place is charming and cozy . Location is nothing but the best possible one can imagine if he is on a buz trip... I checked in at 07 am (early flight) and ustood that the hotel staff were not notified by my agency for same. Nevertheless i was given a key to a room (probably for similar cases) where i got a bath and a rest until my room was ok.Breakfast is not something special but over ordinary.

Stayed here for one night. The single room had two single beds and a desk in a very long, very narrow room with a 'temporary set-up' feel to it. It was stange being able to see the security guard's torch in the opposite building, from bed, through the netted but un-curtained window.

Arrived late so didn't use the restaurant. Breakfast was the normal 'continental' type. Quite adequate. Location is very central if your a sightseer.
