“excellent, if not for the tram during the night...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Excellent hotel with a magnificent hall and a nice bar area.

Too bad that I did not use the spa area, as it seems to be really luxurious. Shame on me!

My room was huge, clean and comfortable with even two balconies on the main street. Unfortunately I was right over the main logo and main entrance of the hotel, which means that it was fully lit and my room was never dark at night, not to mention the tram which kept on running even at 00h30 or early at 6h30 in the morning.

The hotel has plenty of meeting rooms, which perfectly fit our 500 participants at the conference that was organised there.

Out of the hotel there was a main street full of restaurants and shops and a nice walking, just 20min from the river, main theater, etc. lovely!

On the negative side, we saw every evening few single ladies sitting all the time in the bar area staring around. Maybe working girls in such a high class hotel? known to the front desk people downstairs?

Room Tip: avoid rooms facing the main street, the tramway is too noisy at night.

“Very good”

I really liked this hotel. We got a very good deal (1/2 price + 1 night free). The spa was amazing, the room was really comfortable and the location was within walking distance of all the touristy bits (City Park, Castle Hill, Gelert Hill, Danube...). All the staff were very helpful and accommodating.

I can't comment on any of the restaurants since we ate out every night, but the breakfast buffest was great (although a little pricey at €19 per day per person!); there was even a chef on hand to cook omelettes on demand!

“great location, great Spa, luxurious choice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

The location, Pest side, on the edge of the wonderful Jewish quarter, is ideal. Most things are in walking distance, historic sites, wonderful shops, quirky restaurants. And the local trams are brilliant- the concierge will help you with journeys, and you can buy travel tickets in the hotel gift shop. Buda is a short Metro ride away, or an energetic longish walk.
The Executive lounge is well worth the extra, for business facilities, easy check in, and wonderful day long snacks and drinks, and great views. Also breakfast can be taken here in these more intimate surroundings.
The rooms are very nice, decorated in the a stylish plush but dark style. And since most look onto an atrium, there is little natural light to open things up. There are a few rooms that have an outside view but they tend to be of a lower rating so it depends on what your needs are.
There are also some excellent serviced apartments at the back of the hotel, our family group moved there, and we were thrilled with the extra space. Lack of natural light and dark plush furnishings, no matter how luxurious can lead to cabin fever if you are staying more that a week or so.
But the real plus here is the wonderful Spa and pool. every treatment is available and it is a terrific spa for unwinding. But it is still worth making the trip to one of this beautiful city's natural sulphur baths, esp the one in the park behind Heroes Square.

Room Tip: The rooms are very nice, decorated in the a stylish plush but dark style. And since most look onto a...

“So close, but yet so far. Great city though!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

An impressive building with good pool facility and excellent Executive Club (which is well worth it), and a good location to walk around the city or pick up public transport.

Otherwise the hotel rooms were massively overheated and it was impossible to cool them down at all with the air conditioning. Most rooms seem to face into an atrium, and smoking is allowed in these areas at events and for the cafe, so it's smells if you open your window.

Breakfast is good, but service can be erratic. As with all hotels some staff are great (especially the Exec lounge), and some not so, especially front desk and housekeeping - who were especially poor and a little scarce.

Budapest is a great city and I'd love to go again, but I would choose a different hotel.

Room Tip: Make sure your room overlooks the brasserie atrium rather than the cafe or the reception area atrium...

Thank you for sharing your experiences regarding your recent stay at the Corinthia Hotel Budapest.
We are pleased that our Executive Club facility left such a good impression on you whilst we are really sorry to learn about the temperature problems in the guestroom you occupied. Normally our heating system provides a good and ambient temperature across the hotel and we apologise if on this occasion this did not work in the room you occupied. Our heating system is partly dependant on the external temperature which was in actuality unseasonably cold (between -15 and -20 C) at the time of your stay. I can only apologise if this system was not sufficiently effective on this occasion .
Please also accept our apoligies for the smoke from the public area. Since the start of this year smoking is not allowed at the hotel and in the public areas, however due to the previously mentioned unusual cold winter, we allowed to our guests to use one dedicated area, next to the Le Bar, for smoking. This is just a temporary solution and will be stopped as the outside temperature is starting to increase.
We are really sorry to learn that there were some areas where you were not satisfied with our services. We normally pride ourselves on the high standards we provide to our guests and please accept our sincere apologies if you have not experienced this during your visit.
I thank you once more for your kind and constructive comments. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to the Corinthia Hotel Budapest on a future occasion.
Kindest regards,
Mr.Szabolcs Szabo
