We spent three nights at the pension in mid-September. Was a bit concerned about getting to the pension from the Railway station as it was in the Buda hill away from the city core but the pension's website instructions (once I actually read them - bus #7 to bus #8 which goes by pension) worked perfectly. You can reach downtown (and vice versa) easily by bus (#8) in about 20 minutes without any changes. We found that being able to be in a quiet neighbourhood away from traffic more than made up for the extra travel time.
Pension staff were very helpful in how to get around Budapest (actually very easy because of their excellent public transit system), sort out placenames and arrange transit passes and some tours. There was free wifi that worked well in our room and a very good buffet breakfast was provided. They also steered us for dinners if we were interested to a nearby (under 10 minute walk) pub/restaurant that served excellent Hungarian food and didn't break the bank. Our room near to the lobby desk on the first floor was a reasonable size but proved to be a bit noisy when other guests were checking in late. Overall we would recommend this pension for a quiet and affordable stay.

I emailed this hotel with simple questions about their breakfast and transportation service. First they gave a crap reply that they don't offer both services. So, I re-phrased my questions.... They emailed me back my question WITH NO REPLY AT ALL!!! How would I expect a good hotel service based on how they respond to emails?????!!!!!! I don't believe this hotel's high ranking at all.........

If you're looking for a family sized place to stay in Budapest without breaking the bank....stay at the Helios. Friendly staff, comfortable beds and beautiful gardens make this pension worth the bus ride to the suburbs. Public transit in Budapest is so easy to negotiate and the single bus (no transfers) from downtown to the bottom of the road to Helios is no exception. The price (5 euros) for the add on breakfast was a little high for what was offered, but the sunny patio made it almost worth it.

A quiet but easily accessible location with fantastic view of the hills, Helios Hotel Pansion is always my first choice of accommation when i travel to Budapest. Rooms are always clean and with free internet and parking lot, Helios offers a simple yet highly competitive and pleasant accommadation.
