“Looks bleak but near metro”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011 via mobile

stayed here as part of a coach tour and it was by far the worse hotel we stayed in although it is fairly close to public transport it does not seem the best area esp at night we discoverd that the rooms are none too clean either see pictures of our windows behind the nets!! Stay somewhere nearer the centre if i wereyou the breakfast was ok evening meal was dire and service was def without a smile but thats just the hungarians i think it was a relief to get to austria after this place . Also if the turn left withe hotel behind you the trams there do not go to thecity centre. Budapest is a wonderful place and should be seen

not the best hotel.the location for budapest was poor the staff could have been a bit more friendly.didn't like the idea of set menu a case of take .it or leave it (mostly left it as the food was awful)one lady in our party had a kindle stolen from her room when she reported it to front desk and demanded the police were informed it reappeared when she went back to her room!!.our driver told us the previous two weeks he had his stuff stolen and an empty bag reappeared 1hour later.so travellers beware!!!!!!

“Not the best i have stayed in”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

The hotel is ok for what we needed as moving around. Miss the kettle in the bedroom. Not everyone wants a cold drink in their room. The staff all seem to walk about with miserable faces. I do realise that unemployment is high in Budapest so i thought the ones with jobs would be happy in their work. But Budapest was a lovely city and the night cruise was a real WOW factor.

“Watch out for your belongings here!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2011

The hotel is basic but okay, although you need a room at the rear in order to avoid the tarffic noise and to be able to open a window for air. The main problem is the regular theft of belongings. One couple in our group had their room burgled twice in two days. Someone uses a pass key to get in while guests are dining in the hotel dining room - draw your own conclusions. Those who ate out did not seem to have a problem. If you do stay, lock up your cases and don't leave any valuables in the room.

“WHAT???? No kettle!!!!”

Golden Tulip is situated in a run down part of town. Unfriendly staff, No Kettle in ANY room. Expensive for bar and soft drinks, just as you would expect when there is no kettle. Rooms are clean, bathrooms are adequate.
