“Very good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

We went on the New Year's Eve holiday in Budapest and stayed at the Rubin Hotel.
We were nicely surprised by the Spa and by the rooms, more exactly the size of the rooms. i didn't expect to have a small living room and a bedroom for what it was supposed to be a double room. we had an early booking ticket so we had an excellent price. The food was good at breakfast, which was included in the price. the rooms were also well heated (for me it was a very good thing because i like the temperature a little bit higher).
Now, what we didn't like was the crowding at the reception for the check in, but it was the holidays so i guess it's acceptable. the spa does not offer slippers and the pool is rather small, but we had a good time there. i also didn't like the fact that the wireless was not working properly in the room, although they said it was free all over the hotel.
it was a really nice hotel, maybe not quite 4 stars but one of the most nicest hotels i stayed in.
overall, the services were good and i recommend it to people who have business trips in Budapest because it's close to the center and also for those who go there on vacation.

Room Tip: i like the room we had because it didn't had a staircase

“Got what I paid for but with no warning!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

Went to Buda for dental treatment at VitalEurope which is ongoing, (dentist is definitely worth recommending) my mum and I were on the trip and we shared a room for 3 nights. I paid £100 on Octupus travel, i did think was rather cheap breakfast was also included there was no warning that we would be staying in the shabby part of the hotel.. I wouldnt think that they would even sell the rooms we stayed in. Ceiling was made of polystyrene that was hanging off the ceiling, carpet stunk. Only good thing was that the beds were reasonably comfortable. The spa was very deserted, my mum booked in for a body scrub for 6.30pm she went down and they told her that they couldnt fit her in even though she only booked in few hours prior. English was not good as they couldnt understand a word we was saying. No where wanted to accept euros, only HUF which was really awkward!! Half the hotel has been done up but they wouldnt change our room because of the money we paid even though half the hotel was empty. Transport was good, bus outside to the train station to go to Pest. Few nice bits to see. Spa is a let down, looks modern, but dirty looking. Wouldnt have used it. Sauna's and steam rooms were not even working and couldnt be bothered to ask to use it as they wouldnt understand. Dont think i would go back!!!!

Room Tip: Pay more and stay in Pest.

“More 2 star than 4 star.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2011 via mobile

The hotel has a great spa and gym. This is the best part. The rooms are small tired and shabby and beds are very uncomortable. Menu options are limited and there are no bars or restaurants locally. There is a bus stop a short walk from the hotel but yoh need to change buses to get into budapest. Avoid.

“Very disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 June 2011

I both stayed here and used the meeting rooms. Both of which were a huge disappointment.

The service here is terrible, maybe with the exception of one fairly happy woman on reception. In particular the service, and food, in the restaurant is woeful to say the least. Staff in the restaurant do a good job in making you feel like you are an irritant, whereas the food itself could be described as one. Keep your expectations very low for the hotel bedrooms. Dodgy shower, TV and aircon all added to the general atmosphere. My colleagues had rooms with beds of different heights. All very odd.

Room Tip: Ask for one without a shared bathroom!

“Ok, but not a place I recommend! BORING, and "out of the way"”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2011

Wellness and spa-section was a HUGE letdown! Massage-area/room was small and very uncomfortable, masseuse did NOT change towles between massages (luckily my friend was before me, and not some stranger)! Pedicure was next door in a tiny, tiny hairsalon...Nail-clippings was just dropped on the floor, yuck!
Make sure NOT to sleep in a room facing the main road, you will not be able to sleep as you feel you're on a highway! Rooms facing out to the garden area - was ok...Breakfast ok! Staff was friendly and very helpfull. Bartender in hotel-loby-bar mixed terrible drinks, eg.: Gin&Tonic mixed w/Seltzer water (salty). Another letdown was the location: One couldn't just walk into the city, downtown area! Rooms ok...Try to find another place to stay when visiting Budapest!!!!
