“barely ok for business but NOT for tourists”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2007

Only reason to stay in this 2 star (not 4) hotel is if you have business in the area, although i'd rather spend an extra 30-40 euros and stay in a better hotel. Location is in a residential area far off from the city center and away from public transportation. Rooms have not been renovated since the '70s and are quite gloomy and depressing. Room service is fast but food is just ok. Fruit salad consists of 1 apple and 1 banana. Paperwalls. At least there's wireless in the room. Glad I got here at 8pm and that I am leaving tomorrow morning.

Nice hotel.good medium sized room.breakfast good average choice but how many different things can you eat??.swimming pool, ten pin bowling alley, tennis, restuarant ok but quite. But reason being go out of the back gate by gym/fitness and sauna i believe . And there are outdoor restaurants/bars/bands galore all facing on the danube.(please note there are mosquitos)and that was the name of the restaurant/bar we liked best. hotel out a bit but hotel runs free shuttle bus twice a day.Budapest worth a visit look round the city and go on the river we spent a week here and loved it change your money in the city good rates

  • Liked — location(shuttle bus needed)
  • Disliked — mosquitos(august) but none in the city

“Good value hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2006

Mum and I stayed 4 nights in may '06. Good location by the river, but beware of mosquitoes!
The nearset HEV train stop 20 minutes walk away, then a metro ride into the city centre. We used the free hotel shuttle bus-reliable and easy to book the night before. Last pick up was 6.30pm-too early if you wanted to stay out at night. Without the bus, it would have been difficult and tiring or expensive to get into the city (5miles away)
Hotel room was large and clean. Staff were friendly, most spoke English. Breakfast was good- cooked and the usual cold continental. Didn't use the restaurant for evening meals as it was expensive and uninviting. Found better, cheaper restaurants and bars on the waterfront; lobby bar was never open. Felt safe walking in the area at night.
Pool was clean, but needed a revamp, jacuzzi not working and advertised bowling club was closed.

Overall good value for the money we paid, would definately stay there again provided that the shuttle bus was still operating.

“cash on taxis”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 May 2006

Cheap to stay at but 15 minutes from centre by car or taxi. hotel run a good free shuttle service into Budapest but this finishes at 18.00hrs. The taxi fare into Budapest is about £ 10 so to go into town for the evening you are faced with £20 per night for taxis. The breakfast is no more than adequate.Otherwise the hotel is modern clean and pleasant. You pays your money and takes your chance !, but at £25 per night per person it takes some beating on price (booked through Easyjet)

“great shuttle service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 March 2006

just come back from 3 days at the lido hotel.
rooms great but the heat is controlled and goes on about 5.30 pm although the room is not acutally cold.
shuttle service fantastic , at one stage we were the only couple to go into town and back and they had no complaints.
the only trouble is the breakfast. not much to eat especially if one does not eat cold meats, bacon and sausages. the salad, tomato, cucumber and a bit of green pepper is on a small plate for all the guests and i men a small plate.
no toaster and the coffe is from the vending machines and not at all hot.
the staff are verry helpful

.
