“Out bush”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2007

I stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights in June -07.

It's situated quite far away from the city and even though you can get there easily with the Metro, (tickets available in the gift shop inside the hotel) if you want a night on the town that involves going by taxi.

I don't know what to expect from hotel breakfasts / food in Budapest, but I didn't like the food here at all.

The hotel is rather ugly on the outside, but clean and nice on the inside. Rooms are OK.

If you're getting a good price and don't mind staying far away from the sights and the nightlife, this might be the place for you.

Budapest is just beautiful by the way!

“Nice stay in Budapest”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2007

Chose this hotel as it seemed to be the best bang for the buck. Hotel had a BIG workout area and indoor pool. The Metro was being worked on while we were there so we had to take busses to and from the downtown area but this only took :20 minutes or so, the Metro should take even less. If you go out the main door and go left to the Main Street then go left towards the Metro there is a fruit stand sellling cold drinks and fruits snacks and vegtables. If you go left again at the street by the Metro station and go down a long block there is a fair to good restaurant, the food at the hotel was good and plentiful and not too expensive. The cabs seemed to have a goofy price system and you have to call to get a cab rather then get one from a stand or on the street. Internet broke during the second day of our stay, noone seemed to be in a hurry to get it fixed though it only needed a new keyboard. Staff kind of grumpy especially the lady in the gift shop who yakked and yakked on the phone ALL DAY and got mad if you interupted her call so you could purchase something.

  • Liked — Location by the Metro and price plus pool and workout area.
  • Disliked — Internet broke and noone seemed interested in getting it repaired despite 7 requests to do so!

“Functional”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 May 2007

We stayed here because of attendance at a convention in the indoor stadium next door. Hotel was not charming by any means, and, while close to a few restaurants and bars, not real close to the city center. However, it was decent value for the money (we paid 116 Euros; normal posted rate was 110 Euros for a double room but, we were told, rate goes up when hotel is full). Rooms were not new but not shabby. Breakfast buffet in the cavernous dining room, filled with tour groups, was fine. Gym, including cold water pool, offered several options of activities, and classes. Lobby coffee shop full of smokers. Metro station and trams and busses very close. Train station one Metro stop away; city center a few stops down the line. If you cannot find something affordable nearer to attractons, you could do worse than this place.

  • Liked — Closeness to sports arena and Metro
  • Disliked — Large tour groups and expensive Internet access

“Good base”

The Hotel Stadion is a nice hotel. Its a 1 minute walk to the Metro/Bus transport system and then 5-7 minutes to the centre of Budapest, in the immediate vicinity of Budapest's largest sports, event and fair centre, the Puskás Ferenc Stadium (we went to see Robbie Williams) The hotel was clean and the food ok but there is so much choice in Budapest it would be hard to keep up. Breakfast wasn't for me but the wife enjoyed it and the staff very pleasent.THIS HOTEL IS A EXCELENT BASE FOR BUDAPEST BECAUSE OF THE TRANSPORT SYSTEM BUT THE METRO SYSTEM CLOSES AT 23:00 ISH. A taxi is for nothing but agree a price before hand(You know the score your not stupid) Would I go back? Yes but only before the euro comes into full force.Oh and book the hotel in HUF as the euro price is 3X as much! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

“Nice Hotel”

We stayed at this hotel in March 2005. It was booked via yeego and we only paid £35 for a twin room per night inc breakfast. (Breakfast was buffet and very good) We stayed there for 5 nights.
The hotel itself is clean and very large. The rooms are quite small but clean and comfortable. There are gym facilities which are great including sauna and swimming pool free of charge.
The only problem I can say we had was the location which is about 3 miles outside the city centre however the underground station (Stadionok)is next to the hotel and its only three stops into the city and the trains are every 4 mins during the day about every 8 mins during the evening although they do stop at about 11pm so if you are out in the city centre after that time is a taxi ride which works out at £5.
The staff are quite unhelpfull although some of this was the language barrier as well as generally being misrable people.
We would stay there again if the location was right however you will not be disapointed with this place if the price is right.
