“Nice hotel, food very expensive”

We stayed here on a 4 night mini break in June.
The location is good for getting around the city.
Public transport in Budapest is excellent. I recommend buying tickets for the hop on hop off bus tour. They pick up from all over the city and you can buy the tickets in the hotel reception.

The hotel itself was reasonable priced, The room had 2 king size beds and an unsuite shower room. The only negative point was that the food in the hotel was expensive. There are plenty of places to eat in Budapest and I would suggest paying for the room only and eating elsewhere.
Wereally enjoyed our stay in Hungary and want to go back again altough we will rent an apartment next time..

“An average hotel with average service”

My partner and I stayed here for 4 nights in early October and found the hotel to be reasonable but were disappointed with some aspects. The room itself was not too bad in size and the beds were comfortable (2 single's pushed together), however the bathroom was dirty and the shower doors did not close. The towels were extremely worn and very thin, and were only changed once during our stay. The beds were also only made once, annoyingly after I had made them myself after being frustrated about them not coming in! I wouldn't usually moan about such seemingly trivial things but it is after all a 4 star hotel so I expected some basic services that hotels of lesser standards provide, such as having a safe in the room which was not provided. The breakfast was OK, it included bacon, pancakes, french toast, some pastries, fruit, yogurts and meats which were perfectly acceptable. I was pleased to find that the staff were very friendly, and we made full use of the spa facilities which were really nice, consisting of a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna (although the jacuzzi was closed on one of the days we were there). The location is not too bad, on a quiet side street and a few minutes from the Astoria stop of the metro. Overall the hotel is quite basic and a bit worn around the edges, especially as it is a 4 star, but if you are on a budget then it's acceptable.

“So so. Pretty standard Mercure”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

All was well until I smelled the towels. They smelled of vomit ... for two days and in two different rooms. That was just a temporary problem. Note that half the rooms in the hotel don't have in-room safes with Accor describe as one of the room details. Other than that, this is a perfectly average Mercure. Oh, except for the breakfast which was actually very good.
