“Excellent for a short stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 May 2011

In March 2011, I have stayed in the Mercure Budapest Museum for three nights. The hotel is at a very central location, only a ten minute walk to the main shopping street and the Danube river. The staff is professional and all speak sufficient English to do their jobs. My room on the ninth floor was large enough and clean. The breakfast had ample choices and gave a great start for the day. In the basement there is a sauna, steamroom, and a jaccuzi. You can also get massages at a decent price. The masseur is a very pleasant man who speaks English and can discuss all topics while working on your body. Half an hour on the massage table was gone before I knew it. The price I paid for the room was relatively low, but in March the tourist season in Hungary hadn't started and I don't know whether prices will go up when the tourists do start to arrive.

Room Tip: Get a room on a higher floor!

Dear willdejager,

Thank you for your positive comment.

I think you have mentioned almost all strenghts of our hotel: central location, professional staff, nice rooms, wellness area with warm atmosphere.
You are right, in high season our prices can climb higher, but it is still reasonable for them, who would like to stay in a quiet area of the city center.

I hope we can welcome you again soon.

Best regards,

Richard Siklósi

“fantastic hotel but Mr. Lazlo, at reception, needs a personality tune-up”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 March 2011

A very nice hotel which is a rustic corner near Astonia metro station.

If you're in a group or a family and would like to stay close together on the same floor, try asking for room x10 and x09 (x=floor) as they could be sealed with a bigger door, thus making it a family or group room.

“Beautiful hotel Beautiful city!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 March 2011

We completely loved the hotel, it has a perfect location, down a nice quiet street but not far to walk to the hustle and bustle of the city centre and all the things and places to see and do. The staff greeted us warmly and we were able to go straight to our room, which was totally gorgeous, very modern and clean. the bed was lovely and we especially loved the bathroom. we had a lovely terrace balcony.
best of all in the hotel was the spa in the basement, it has a lovely jacuzzi, sauna and turkish spa. Plus massages were available and i really enjoyed mine.
Breakfast was delicious and the hotel staff always arranged our taxis. We loved our stay.

“privilege room is not as advertised on Accor site”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 March 2011

Arrived today, booked a privilege room which was advertised on Accor's website as "higher level of accomodation with extra features etc". To be honest, the only reason to choose it was that (as on website) it had a balcony and it was larger than standard room.
First of all, the balcony's door is almost broken. Ok, the staff member said they'll change the room tomorrow. But the room itself turned out to be exactly the same as standard (which they''ve also shown us). There is actually one larger room, but it's just one on the floor. All other privilege rooms are of the same size as standard. The only difference you get is the bathrobes and slippers (which were delivered only on request). Towels are old, double bed is actually two beds put together (which is not DOUBLE bed, to my opinion), free wi-fi is sloooooow.
I can't say that I'm extremely disappointed, but if I knew all of this before making a reservation, I'd prefer standard room. It's cheaper and makes no difference. By the way, I paid the same price for privilege room as could've paid for standard room at Marriott. The reason was "ok, Marriott is five star, but there I get on of a hundred similar rooms, while here I get best room in the hotel". Not true,
