“Great location, nice hotel”

Hilton Westend is a very convenient hotel to stay in Budapest. The staff is very friendly and kind and welcoming, the hotel is very clean, the rooms are spacious and modern. The hotel has a back door with direct access to a huge shopping mall with everything you need from shops to restaurants. It is also very close to the train/ metro connections and it is easy to get around the city. The fitness centre is small but well equipped and open 24 hours a day, including a small sauna. The breakfast is really very good including a variety of cheese selection, which is not the usual way in most of the European hotels, an even 'champagne' always available on ice.The meeting rooms are also at multiple sizes allowing lots of groups to meet together or separately. The only downside is the internet in the room is expensive but you can use the free wi-fi at the cafe while having some drink or food. Also slippers and toothpaste/ toothbrush were not included as a standard amenity in the bathroom like still bottled water which is not included as standard but available for purchase. Overall, the hotel was hospitable and I would stay again because of its great location and comfort.

Dear Traveller,

Thank you for your comments on this website. I'm pleased to read that you were very satisfied with the service and facilities you experienced during your stay.

I‘m also happy to learn that you enjoyed our breakfast. It is indeed a great feature to have 13 multipurpose meeting rooms with natural daylight on the same floor.

Also thank you for your comments about the internet and the in-room amenities. Though slippers and toothpaste/ toothbrush are not included as a standard amenity we are happy to provide our guests with them upon request. “Cold weather - Warm people”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

We took a four-day trip to Budapest from the UK just to use up some Airmiles- depite the weather averaging -8C. Budapest is much more attractive than we imagined, with elegant buildings and wide roads similar to Paris. It is big- 20% or two million out of the whole population live here.
Prices were the same as the UK in the city- we were told prices in the country were cheaper had we had the time to travel more widely. The food was excellent - do visit a Trofea restaurant,(chain that offers all you can eat and drink for around 8000 Huf for two- fantastic value.) Less than half the price of eating in the Hilton although the quality and service in the restaurant was quite outstanding- you have to eat-in at least for one evening! Staff charming and welcoming in this super-clean Hotel.

“Top hotel!”

Arriving at the hotel I went to the HHonors check-in where a smiling young man told me that I had made a reservation on the Executive floor and that it would be nicer for me to check in at the desk in the Executive lounge on 4th floor.
In the Executive lounge the staff member who checked me ins was very friendly and service-minded.She gave good information about my room and the hotel, and also about the neighborhood.
Usually when one arrive a hotelroom it looks different than the picture shown on the hotel*s web site. So not here! What you see on the web is what you get! The rooms where spacious, light and decorated with lush colours, modern and elegant. And the beds were good!
The Executive lounge served a fairy good breakfast in a more calm atmosphere than the large buffet on the Mezzanine floor, but as the hotel had few visitors the weekend we stayed there, we ate downstairs. The lounge though serves refreshments all day, usual Hilton Executive standard plus a little more according to cocktail hours..... Let that be an extra treat when you come there!
Staff all over the hotel were friendly, eager to serve, and with a very special welcoming attitude.
The hotel has direct access to a huge shopping mall with everything you'll expect from shops and food stations.
Pack your bags and go to the Hilton Budapest West-End! They're woth a stay!

Room Tip: Upgrade yourself to the Executive floor! The lounge services are worth it!

“Top quality hotel”

M wife and I have just returned from our second 3-night break in Budapest, this time staying at the Hilton Westend. We could find absolutely NOTHING to criticise about the property or the staff. We were lucky to be on the Executive Floor, where the rooms and beds are very large, with a huge TV and super bathroom, including a large free-standing shower (as well as bath) as we had requested. They look out over the glass roof of the Westend shopping centre (which has direct access from the foyer) to the ice rink!
The fitness centre is well equipped (and open 24 hours a day), including a small sauna which is kept on low heat and fires up to full power in a few minutes.
We must mention the breakfasts: we're used to enjoying Hilton breakfasts and this certainly lived up to our expectations - including 'champagne' always available on ice.
The only possible downside is that the hotel is geared towards conference business and you can't avoid the potentially large number of delegates; however, they're largely locked away for most of the day!
One more hopefully helpful comment concerns the transfer from the airport: virtually all the information we obtained led us to choosing the bus/metro combination on the way in; however, if you're using Terminal 1 (generally for low-cost airlines) and staying at (or in the vicinity of) the Hilton Westend, by far the best answer is a direct TRAIN connection (costing from just over £1) from Terminal 1 (which is NOT easily connected to Terminal 2) to the main line station immediately adjacent to the hotel. Trains run every 10-20 minutes and you get a choice between local and inter-city trains (each takes around 20 minutes). I can't understand why this is not better publicised - it worked perfectly for us on the return journey.
Finally, if the weather's nice and you want to explore the city, do try Free Budapest Walking Tours - three half-day tours are available and we did them all in 2-days! They are genuinely free (subject to a tip, as long as you're satisfied) and the guides we had were very helpful and informative - and very friendly with good English (but a multinational group of mainly young tourists). Also, do take the tour of the Parliament building, which is free if you take your EU passport - it's quite marvellous inside.
Great place for a short break - and don't forget to try the thermal baths - especially the old Turkish ones (Radas and Kiraly).

Room Tip: Executive floor if you can

“Great location but expensive internet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

I stayed at the Hilton West End for two weeks in January 2012, for business. I found the staff to be helpful and polite and generally responsive. The hotel is very well located train/ metro/ tram connections and it is easy to get around the city. The hotel also connects to the West End shopping centre which is a fairly large mall with wide selection of shops, cinema and food court.

My room was cleaned well everyday and housekeeping were courteous. The room service/ bar/ restaurant had limited options for me as I am vegetarian. However, upon my request, the kitchen staff were flexible in preparing some meals without the meat which was helpful and nice.

However, there are a few downsides as well. I have stayed at other Hilton hotels around the world and felt the internet was expensive, at a daily charge of around GBP 15. There was no cost effective discount for a multi day purchase which was disappointing. Also, I was unable to connect more than one device at the same time to the wireless connection purchased in my room. This was quite surprising and also inconvenient.

Also, toothpaste/ toothbrush was not included as a standard amenity in the bathroom which was surprising. Still bottled water also not included as standard but available for purchase.

Overall, the hotel was hospitable and I would stay again because of its great location.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the third floor facing the main road, great views!
