“3rd time just as great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

We've stayed in many hotels in Budapest including the IC, but we come back here because the service is great and the views are just the best. Always upgrade to a Danube view room - it is one of the world's greatest views, across the Danube to the castle. Location can't be beaten, within a 10 minute walk of lots of restaurants and the shopping on Vaci Ut and the metro line at Vorosmarty Ter. The room we had was a small suite with a sitting room looking over the river and a cosy bedroom at the back. It was COLD when we stayed but the room and the hotel generally was warm and inviting. Tip: Go to the Four Seasons between 5pm and 7pm where cocktails are two for the price of one and the snacks are delicious! Try the Basil Martini.

Room Tip: Danube view is well worth the upgarde fee.

“Lovely staff, fantastic location”

Stayed two nights for a conference and extended one night to enjoy the city. The nice room faced the Danube and the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly - actually like all people I met in Budapest. The hotel is a bit aging but has a really nice atmosphere to it. Only the food was quite mediocre. Don't eat there if you can avoid it.

“Excellent Location and Views!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Comfortable room with amazing panoramic view of the Danube, Castle District and famous Bridges.
Elegant&Casual lounge with large windows that put you right at street and river level; you can take in the city while enjoying great cocktails and a light meal.
Spa was small, understated but the masseuses were extremely professional.
Concierge and staff were helpful and not overly attentive. The doormen are a bit sleepy and need polishing up.
Go for the location, views and relaxed (river-side) lounge!

Room Tip: We had a suite with panoramic view of the Danube.

“A Tale of Two Visits.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

My first attempt to visit The Intercontinental in Budapest was thwarted at the last minute by the Icelandic Volcano ash cloud. I had paid in advance for the room and feared the worst as the conditions of the booking meant a no show meant I lost my money. I e mailed the hotel and within a day I received a positive reply and shortly afterwards a full refund. Magnificent customer service.
This experience made me even more determined to visit this city and this hotel especially.
I subsequently booked my trip and arrived at the hotel and was greeted by the doorman who took our bags, I was whisked off to reception where I was treated with exceptional courtesy and professionalism. My request for a room upgrade because of my Platinum Priority was greeted with a swift response that they had already upgraded me and they thought I would be delighted with the room.
Well, the room had the wow factor when I saw the view over the Danube and the room its self was exceptionally good. You would think that would be enough to get a five star review but there is more. The concierge organised any trips we wanted to do and the location of the hotel is bang in the centre of everything. We generally walked out of the hotel turned right and we were surrounded by shops cafes and pubs. An outstanding city with a world class hotel. Thanks for a great trip.

Room Tip: River view is a must
