I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights prior to a business trip to Frankfurt, Germany. It was my first visit to Budapest and a friend and I thought it would be a fun trip to take. The hotel's location cant be beat....with views to the Danube and steps away from the Chain Bridge, it serves as a great "base" to set out sight seeing each day. Budapest is a small city that can be easily walked, however even with maps and guide books, my friend and I sought the help of the concierge. Each recommendation that was made, were great ones...including dinner suggestions which were exactly what we were looking for. The ride is about 35 minutes and rather than have the hassle of dealing with a taxi where credit cards wouldnt be accepted, we felt this was a reasonable price to pay. There is a small gym and pool, however even with intentions of working out, we didnt since we walked so much during the day. The only negetive experience was our wake up call on the morning of our checkout. The next morning, our wake up call came in at 5:30am. Fortunately, my friend had the foresight to set the alarm on her phone as a back up, so when she called me at 5:15am, there was quite a bit of a frantic effort to get bags downstairs and checked out by 5:30am. The hotel staff apologized and quite honestly as much as this incident was really annoying and stressful, the rest of the stay was so good that I cant hold that against the otherwise great experience that we had at the Sofitel.
Room Tip: There is an upcharge to stay in a room with a full on view of the Danube, however my room 607 had a...
