“Great value for money!”

Stayed in the Gold Hotel November 2004 and it did provide excellent value for money along with a clean, spacious room and helpful staff.

As other reviews have said, it is a bit of a trek into the city (across the river) but we used it as an excuse to get some exercise in every day! If we went again, we'd probably stay on the other side of the river (budget allowing!).

It is however, close to the castle which is well worth a visit.

Some of the best food we've eaten abroad was in Budapest. There's a really good Christmas market too, which opens first weekend of November if my memory serves me right.

“Nice Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2007

An A+ for the staff, which was very nice, helpful and fluent in English.
The hotel is a little too far from the center of Budapest. You can take the bus from around the corner and then the subway.
We stayed at this hotel twice in a fortnight. The first stay was very pleasent, of about three nights; we had a room at the third floor. The good: the room was clean. The bad: poor internet signal and TV in the hungarian.
The second stay was not that pleasent, we received a very small room on the top floor of the hotel. No wireless signal and the bathroom was not ventilated, carrying a heavy odour. We were too tired to argue about that and given that we only stayed for one night we thought we need not bother with this, so we kept the room.
The overall exeperience with this hotel was ok, mostly because of the staff, the fair breakfast and the clean rooms. We would go back there every time when transiting Budapest, but we definetly hate the top floor.

“Bicycle Friendly”

I highly recommend this small hotel. I arrived by bicycle three years in a row. It has an excellent restricted back courtyard for bike storage, the staff was very friendly/helpful and even worked out a temporary room due to my early arrival one trip. The location is quiet and adjacent to a bus stop or within a decent walk range of the Metro.

“Friendly and welcoming place”

Dear Gold Hotel Panzio,

I stayed in your hotel last month and would like to say a big Thank you for all of you!

When we arrived to the hotel the receptionist lady was very helpful and friendly before checking us in the room she showed 3 different rooms to us on different floors. We ended up at the 3rd floor on the garden side and really enjoyed it. The room was clean, very comfortable, the bathroom was really spacious and clean too. The only small issue we had was the liquid soap as the built in soap holders seemed to be outdated any time we arrived it was a big mark on the bathtub and sink full with a lot of soaps as obviously they didn’t close properly. Just an advise to the management , please don’t hesitate to change these plastic liquid soap holders as wont cost you a fortune and will really make a big difference.

I would like to say a big Thank you for the staff-especially for the young lady at reception .She checked us in around 2pm, she showed us 3 different rooms to choose before checking in, recommended the local shops, gave us a map with all local and night buses and she even asked her manager permission to give us an iron /board as you cant really use these items in the room.

House keeping just brilliant! They have a real focus on details, they even folded my T-Shirt what I left on the bed, they never disturbed us with the cleaning process but the room was every day clean and tidy. Thank you so much for that ladies, you really made us to feel comfortable and have a home away from home feeling.

Breakfast was OK, however the atmosphere in the breakfast room was very unpleasant as the room is not really big and there is no music at all, you can hear the whole check out process going on at the reception -another suggestion to the management please switch on the radio or put some CDs it will make a huge difference.

I had a really pleasant time and I was really satisfied. This is not a big chain hotel with all the latest and modern facilities and there is no staff waiting at every corner to serve you but it is a very comfortable, quiet and welcoming place with friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, who can make you feel home far way from home.
This was my first time I stayed in this hotel and I definitely will recommend to any other guests.

“Beautifully Clean Little Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 May 2007

The Gold Hotel is a lovely little hotel - excellent value for money.

Although it is quite far out from the city, there is a bus stop just across the road, serviced by three buses (25, 74 and 74a).

The hotel, although not very modern is immaculately clean. Our bathroom was spotless - it was even clean enough to have a bath in which is something I NEVER do in a hotel.

The twin beds were comfortable - although a little narrow.

The lady on Reception was absolutely brilliant, really helpful and spoke excellent English as she had lived in the States for 18 months. She gave us loads of information, printed stuff off for us and even offered to book stuff for us too.

The breakfast was quite nice - just the usual continental breakfast, but the breakfast dining room is tiny.

Overall, I would definitely stay at the Gold Hotel again in future, as long as I don't mind being a bit further out from the city.
