“Very poor and noisy”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We were recommended this hotel to stay in as a 3* and I would not even call it a 1*. Although I suppose you can say the location is "central" it;s located on a very dirty street (most are), the hotel itself was quite dirty inside, very old furniture in the rooms, extremely noisy (I was closest to the elevator and steps), and items broken in the room (toilet, chair and shower). The customer service was iffy at best, although there was one really nice guy, the rest were downright poor. Breakfast was decent, if you like lots of grease.

“Not particularly fit for Kings”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

Location was central, but having to avoid the odd ‘local’ urinating on walls in the street wasn’t particularly nice.
The breakfast was very poor – diluting orange squash, and ‘hot’ food not very.
Noise in the room was awful, with sounds of other bathrooms etc very loud.
Beds were just rickety bases with no headboards, pushed against the wall. Kettle supplied, but no tea/coffee.
One or two of the staff were not particularly friendly, and not even a ‘did you enjoy your stay?’ at checkout.
I wouldn’t recommend this as a place to stay.

“Good place for the average stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

King's Hotel was the choice of hotel for Budapest Hungary. It is used as a starting point for all trips that start and end with Intrepid travel.

It is not the best hotel in the city but not the worst

Hotel is located is a decent area of the city and is safe. Close to the jewish quarter of the city. Check in was presently good with a nice girl at the desk. Front lobby area was clean but average. More of a place to stay but not to impress if you were to travel with a special someone.

Rooms were a smaller size but clean. Shower did not have a curtain but that is typical for european standards. Had good AC and room was quite clean. Bed was small and creaky but did its job. Hotel did not have elevator which is typical for old style hotels from Eastern europe.

I had to climb up and down 9 flights of stairs every day and with my bags.

But overall not a bad experience at all.

I would recommend people to stay here as it is a good starting off point and for those not to concerned with high luxury.

The breakfast hotel provides in morning is average, the cold items were ok but the hot items like eggs and bacon were a greasy spoon. Juice was instant Tang or something and coffee was out of a machine.

Overall was a good stay.

Room Tip: Better rooms on the top. quiet. Do not eat the hot items at breakfast. Greasy spoon.
