“Just perfect”

My husband and I decided to come to Budapest in the middle of winter even though we detest the cold, and couldn't be happier about our stay. K+K is centrally located to EVERYTHING. In my opinion, the most beautiful sight in Budapest is St. Stephen's Basilica (I think it rivals the Vatican), and the hotel is about 3 NYC blocks away, if not less. The scenic bridge scenes with Parliament/Budapest Castle/Hungarian Museum are also really close to the hotel, maybe a couple more blocks from St. Stephen's Basicila.

The hotel itself had impeccable service. The receptionist was friendly, helpful, and courteous. We were able to send out postcards, arrange wakeup calls, and get a taxi with zero effort. The room itself was great. Internet connection is awesome. My husband brought his laptop, and he had no trouble getting on since he has an ethernet connection, whereas my laptop and tablet doesn't have one, and wireless only works downstairs. Otherwise, internet was fast and good enough to carry on Skype. Great bathroom, even if a little small (we are in Europe, after all, so it's definitely big by those standards), and the beds were amazing and SO comfortable. We ordered room service, and it was superb, from the presentation, the food, straight down to the person who brought it into the room. Only thing is, we wished they had a gift shop where we could purchase the towels...the K+K initials are my husband and mine's first initials!

“Great comfortable hotel in very good lOcation”

This hotel is very comfortable, with nice spacious rooms. It is close to the Budapest opera, a few minutes walk from the Chain Bridge and other attractions on the Pest side. Room service seems a bit haphazard: I had to wait over an hour for one of my order (which they didn't charge me for) and the second time the room service line wasn't working and they called me back 30 min later. There is free wifi in the rooms.

“Another Great K+K Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

K+K opera is in a great location within a beautiful city. The Opera Metro stop is steps from the front door, but many sights are easily walkable from the hotel. Several excellent restaurants are also within walking distance, as are many high-end shops.

The rooms are large by European standards, with plenty of closet space and modern bathrooms. Breakfast offers a large selection of meats, cheeses, cereals, breads, and yogurts. At peak times, though, it can be a bit of a challenge to find a table. In addition, coffee service could have been more attentive.

The front desk was helpful for restaurant and recommendations on the different baths in the city.

The car service arranged to and from the airport was prompt and reasonably-priced.

Would be great to have wifi access in the rooms. It was available in the lobby, as are a couple of computers for guest use, although these were occupied most of the daytime and evening hours.

For me, K+K has become a reliable source for hotels in Europe. So far, they have not steered me wrong, especially when I have been able to take advantage of their online specials.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms are very quiet for sleeping, while some have a view of the Opera.

“A fabulous welcome”

My husband and I spent a weekend at this hotel in December 2011. We arrived on my birthday and were pleasantly surprised when having been in our room for only 5 minutes one of the staff arrived with a bottle of bubbly and a greetings card wishing me happy birthday. The room and bathroom were very nice, comfortable and clean. The staff throughout our stay were amazing - always pleased to help in any way possible. We didn't eat dinner in the hotel but the breakfast was plentiful and you could even have bubbly or bucks fizz should you wish! We sat at the bar one evening and enjoyed some good Margaritas and chat with the barman. We enjoyed walking around the Christmas markets and walking up to the castle on the Buda side was a lovely (long) walk. The location of the hotel was great - we even walked to Hero Square then caught the underground back (you can buy the tickets at the reception desk, very convenient). We were told the yellow underground line (Andrassy) is the oldest in Europe and it was spotlessly clean and very quaint. There are convenient stores near the hotel for drinks, snacks etc. If you want to bring packets of paprika home as little gifts we found they were cheaper at the stalls in the little market area at the castle. A tip for changing money - just take enough for the taxi fare from the airport to your hotel (go outside the airport door to the booth to get your taxi). The fare to the centre is approx £20 - £25, Public transport is a bit more complicated so the taxi is worth it. Keep the card you will be given at the taxi booth as when you book your return journey (the reception staff did this) you get a discount. When you change sterling go to a cambio money exchange but as there are lots around see which one is giving the best rate. Banks don't give such a good exchange but we found in fact our hotel gave the best rate which surprised us. The Opera house is beautiful inside but we missed the tour because we intended doing it on the Sunday before our departure. We didn't know the times were different on a Sunday and we left before the 3pm tour. Finally everyone we spoke to in Budapest was friendly and very willing to help and please us.

“Very good quality hotel”

The hotel is modern, clean and the room we had was comfortable. Some nice touches in the room included extras that make a stay more comfortable. The staff were very efficient and most helpful. Breakfast is excellent and the variety very good - including lots of fresh fruit.

We agree with other reviews that the Wifi was "clunky" which made things difficult. We used the free computers in the foyer but not for personal business (other than email) simply as a matter of personal information security.

The hotel is well located and we walked to several recommended sights and also made extensive use of the metro and the trams using a 3 day pass (great value). Despite warnings about hassles for tourists on public transport, we found both metro and trams safe, clean, frequent and efficient. We took the metro from Opera (25metres from the hotel) to Vorosmarty ter (3 stops) had a leisurely coffee at the plaza there and then either walked or took a tram to see the many sights.

The one complaint we have is not about the hotel but the booking company: Railbookers Australia. Despite a website promise of "a detailed tailored trip" they provided no more than one could obtain from an internet booking directly with the hotel. Yet they charged more and wanted payment in full in advance and insisted the full cost was non-refundable. This is the same level of risk in making an internet booking; but the internet booking would be cheaper. They provided little to no relevant, useful information either but added a premium to their costs - go figure!
