To comment on a hotel, It all depends on what you will expect from it. That is, one can not want everything from one single place: good location, comfort room, friendly service, and reasonable price.
Let me begin with what I like about Best Western Orion:
The room is clean and cozy, and free Internet easily accessible. The staffs are willing to help, and the price reasonable.
Then I want to point out something less than perfect.
1. It is situated on the Buda-side (less populated than Pest), in a rather isolated area. There is no shops nor restaurants (even there is, it is closed). Hardly any people pass by during the day, and we feel unsafe to walk here after dark. So unless you have a car, it's not convenient to stay here, for within a 15-minute walking distance, not even one single store is in sight.
2. Despite that there are quite a few buses and trams going by this area, it is hard for a first-time tourist to take the advantage of it. So we ended up walking between the hotel and downtown all the time.
Comparing to many other cities, the public transportation in Budapest is the least friendly. First, you can't get tickets on the bus (tram, or metro), plus almost nobody is selling them in the
station, and the machines are most broken. One has no choice but buying tickets from some
newspaper stands, tobacco shops, or strangers. In such case, no bus maps are provided.
3. With what is provided, the breakfast, costing 8 Euros, is a bit too expensive for me.
To sum up, if you have your own transportation to get around to the tourist spots, airport and train station, not mind isolation, then this hotel is ideal.
However, if you like seeing people and shops around, buying things easily, and saving some time on moving around, then go find another hotel.
To sum up, if you have your
