“Good location and good for value!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012 via mobile

As I have spent 4 nights in this hotel, I have to say that overall I merely have any complaints about the hotel other than the breakfast. The breakfast was so bad that for the 4 nights I stayed here I only had breakfast twice. The choice of buffet was terrible, the only thing worth complimenting was the cheese. Lol.
Other than breakfast everything else was fine. Now to mention a couple of points I would like to start with the location. The hotel is located next to the chain bridge which is more or less the centre point of Budapest. From here all points of attractions were
accessible I.e museum, spa's, nightlife etc. The rooms were clean as was the toilet. Staff during night were very helpful and polite....however morning staff were [--]. Taxi service from hotel was ok, even thou bit expensive. This was probably due to hotel making commission on taxi fares. Overall this hotel will be worth coming back to if I was to visit Budapest again.

“Good Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

I stayed in the Carlton hotel Budapest because of it's proximity to Chain Bridge and Buda Castle. It's not a 4* hotel in my opinion. The staff are very good, and the location is fantastic - but it lacks that special something that a 4* hotel should have. Having said that, it's a great hotel to make your base. The room was extremely clean and the housekeeping staff were good.

stayed at the carlton because of its location close to chain bridge and the old buda side. the rooms were basic but clean and adequate for the amount of time we spent in them, Breakfast was usual mix of continental ,rolls cheese ham etc and scrambled eggs , cereals . safe in rooms which i recommend you use.

“Good hotel & friendly staff”

We stayed at the Carlton in Dec 2011. I think this is a good hotel for the price but it should be considered a 3 star by American standards.
Great breakfast & attentive staff.

“Average hotel, good location, unfriendly staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

Truly, when we booked this hotel, we thought the name "Carlton" would involve some extra quality above the average. But it wasn't. Carlton Hotel Budapest has 4 stars but it deserves 2 and a half, no more.
Briefly: rooms are a bit small. But it's clean. The worst part is the bed as every room has 2 small beds put together, as we were told by the unfriendly guy at the reception desk.
Breakfast is the best thing of the hotel as there are many options... except sweet things!! 4 different cheeses but no cakes, any of them! I called this the salty Budapest breakfast.
Location is nice for exploring the city, just in front of the Chain Bridge. We read on Internet Pest is better than Buda for hotels, but for us, location was more than ok.

Tip: In the main street, just exiting the hotel to the left there is a good cheap restaurant for lunch (Ildiko Konyhaja)

Room Tip: Don't ask for king size beds. They have only rooms with 2 small beds put together.
