The rooms are basic and the plumbing resembles an internal waterfall if you forget to turn off the tap when the loo is flushed! The staff that spoke English were delightful, lots got lost in translation, which is a bit frustrating - and if you want a massage make sure you ask for Robert. The location wasn't too bad, close to the lake and beach. We were fortunate with the weather though the outside pool was breathtakingly cold, I mean cold. Staff manned the pools at all times, very nice bunch too. The food (we were B&B) was ok but a bit sameish. Value for money, yes, location good, thought with the numbers that were staying during September the establishment should extend their high season programme and cater for all guests. Plenty of good local restaurants though naturally quiet during the week. That meant you got served quicker... Wouldn't recommend the buffet lunch or dinner at the hotel given the aforesaid. Bit pricey! If you fly into flybalaton airport take the local bus very efficient, polite drivers and a scenic drive.

The hotel was overbooked, so they gave us a superior room plus - same charge. The room was extremely small and the decor outdated, cold and impersonal. Made us wonder what the standard rooms look like... Bathroom was ok.
The included breakfast was extremely greasy, so we only had it the first morning.
My grade for this hotel is due to the fact that when it was time to pay the bill, we had to pay a lot more than we were told when booking (28 000). There was a note in the room saying we should not pay more than 33 200 a night for 2 persons incl. breakfast and VAT, but we had to pay 35 400 a night. Not worth the money!
We stayed at the gorgeous 5 star Kempinski i Budapest before we went to Balaton. Here we only paid 33 000...

We took the boat to Siofok for a day at the beach. A much better place! Great restaurants, great beach, loads of things to do. Next time we go here!

In case you're thinking that I'm just a grouch: Hungary is great! Food is great, people are friendly and your money go a loooong way!

I felt like I had stepped back in time to the 70's and it was great. Closed almost half the year so I didn't expect too much but the hotel really does its best to keep everyone happy. Loads of facilities day and evening. Has its own private beach next to the lake. The rooms are a little tired. Needs a massive amount of money spending on it to bring it up to western standards. There is no air conditioning in the bedrooms and the bathrooms have a 70's suite. But they have invested in new furniture and carpets. I would recommend this hotel and thought it was great value for money.
