This was one example, how a small hotel can be better than a large one. We were greeted by the manager personnaly and shown our room, which was even better than expected. We stayed there for 10 nights exploring the surrounding areas. The food, consisting only of fresh local food was good at a reasonable pricing.

The Kendov far exceeded our expectations already raised from reading the reviews on this site. It achieves a unique blend of warmth, homeliness, elegance and professionalism. Yes, the hotel is at the top of a road with appartments lower down, but that is just how the charming village has developed over time. The hotel itself is a real oasis of calm, superb food, wonderful wines, exquisitely furnished rooms and outstanding staff - all of them.

We were welcomed beautifully by the manageress, immediately helped with our bags, shown to a gorgeous room and bathroom, waited on at breakfast and dinner by incredibly charming and attentive staff. it is noticeable also that the excellent cleaning staff take an immense amount of pride in the place, and put fresh flowers and leaves in the bedrooms.

Unusual and really pleasing touches are the flowers throughout the whole hotel, which are cut by the staff from the hotel's garden and arranged freshly each week: also the candles that are lit throughout the hotel each evening give the place a magical feel.

The breakfasts are varied and appetizing and the dinners, which are based on the chef's menu each evening are outstanding and bear comparison with top restaurants anywhere in the world.

We shall hurry back as quickly as we can to the Kendov. It is one of those very special places that are rarely discovered, but once found are never forgotten and to which one returns with fondness and relish.

The Kendov Dvorec is an incredibly charming place. Prior reviews are correct that the property has a somewhat awkward location - up a hillside road lined with rather modern, larger buildings. However, once you are on the small property of the hotel, you immediately as though you have escaped from it all. The house is lovely, and we thoroughly enjoyed being able to roam through the public spaces with the various historic furniture and pieces. Our room was also very nice (though yes, the beds are a bit stiff), with a window overlooking the town below. We also had a wonderful dinner (40 euros per person, reasonable given the amount of food) - delcious food and great presentation on the lovely patio filled with flowers. All in all, it was a very memorable stay.

We had the landlord suite. Beautifully decorated. Wonderful staff. They were very accomodating. Located in a beautiful valley, but somewhat of a drive to the capital. Try some of the delicious wines they serve with dinner.
