Unfortunately you only get one chance to make a first impression !
When trying to check in at reception we were told that they were only dealing with Saga guests and we would have to wait. We had been on the same flight as the Saga guests but hadn't realised that they were in the same hotel as they had travelled from the airport in their own coach.
Our room, at the front was spacious and spotlessly clean, full marks to housekeeping staff. The bed was enormous and very comfy. We were able to keep the window open at night but I think the room would be really hot during the peak season, would probably have been better with a balcony though. We were aware of the church bells but they weren't a problem and they didn't keep us awake.
Restaurant staff seemed to be overstretched at times, although I do wish they would wait until we had both finished eating before whipping plates etc away. Several nights we didn't see the wine waiter until we had almost finished our meal, although the Saga louts never seemed to be without a drink! Maybe we should have gone all inclusive as well.
The standard of food varied from course to course, starters were generally brilliant , good job really because the mains were mostly bland, overcooked and boring with a poor choice of veg . We never went hungry but oh for something tasty!
Dinner was served between 6.30 & 8.30 but if you left it much after 6.45 the oldies had cleared the place out; who said your appetite shrinks as you get older, this lot could certainly stow it away.
And they didn't mix with you if you weren't one of them. One chap spoke on the first night and then when he found out that whilst technically we were old enough to be with Saga but weren't he blanked us for the rest of the week.
Guests from other travel companies were in the minority and generally felt like outsiders.
The drinks in the hotel were pricey but Bar Vopa offered reasonably priced drinks in a very friendly atmosphere and the entertainment varied throughout the week; live bands, top rate European Football, karaoke etc.
We should have looked at trip advisor first; if we had realised Saga featured this hotel we would possibly have stayed elsewhere. Shame really because the Prisank has the potential to excel.
As for Kranjska Gora we loved it. They are really pulling out all the stops to attract tourists to the area. The walking is excellent and varied, the views are stupendous, bike hire is reasonable, the cycle track is endless, Ski lifts operate at weekends in summer, there are off road bike tracks, toboggan runs, no need to be bored. Pity we couldn't get enough people interested in the white water rafting trip though.
