This is the second time we have stayed at Mayer in 2011 . One week in June to attend a wedding and for New year and the celebrations . Bled is the most magical place summer and winter alike and both stays at Mayer were excellent . The service is wonderful as are the staff and the food is always of a very high standard . When we arrived a couple of days before New year there was a flurry of snow , everywhere around the lake looked beautiful , we were welcomed by Dietmar with Schnapps and cookies ...Lovely .
We took part in the candle light procession around the lake which was wonderful , mulled wine and chocolates on the way round , bands playing and Father Frost on his parade , it was just magical .
This place is a gem , if you are booking request a lake view room if possible it is stunning to wake up to the beautiful lake and the castle on your doorstep .
I cannot praise this place enough . We will definately go back but trying to keep it a secret aswell ! we don't want it spolit .

This lovely penzion was recommended to us by Greg & Ronalee from Slovenia for you. And I must say that it was a great recommendation. Penzion Mayer is lovely place with a great host. The room was very charming and cleanliness was perfect. Penzion Mayer scores very high on hospitality, room size, cleanliness and quality of the property.

Dietmar is one of the best hosts I have seen till now. He offered us free bikes as well as free tickets for the spa in Hotel Golf. When we inquired with him about the bus to vintgar gorge, he himself drove us to the entrance of the gorge. And he also told us to take the route via Katrina Church to come back to Bled, which turned out to be a stunning walk. On the last day, we requested him to book a cab for us to go to the train station. He again surprised us by driving us to the station. It was wonderful to meet such a good host. The restaurant at Penzion Mayer is great and was packed on all the days. We had a very nice dinner where we tried traditional slovenian food. We stayed here for 3 nights and we wish we had at least for one more night. Will definitely come back here.

Few comments/ tips on the region
Lake Bled is beautiful and would highly recommend spending at least 3 days. A day in Bled (lake, vintgar gorge, katrina church, castle etc), a day around Bohinj lake and small villages nearby (Stara Fujina; Studor; Srednja Vas etc) and a day for Triglav National park. We also took a day tour- "Emerald valley tour" organised by 3glav adventures and it is a must do tour if you want to explore best parts of Triglav National Park and Socha river in a day. Slovenia is beautiful and would love to visit again.

We were a family of five adults who spent two nights (three rooms) in early October 2011. We arrived by car from Ljubljana. The hotel was easy to find with car park in front. It was a most beautiful hotel with gorgeous flower boxes on the window sills and sits in a lovely garden. The staff was very friendly and helpful throughout. The service was impeccable. We ate in the hotel restaurant one night and the food was good and service beyond reproach. The location of the hotel is excllent, close to the lake and near restaurants. We cannot recommend a hotel more than Penzion Mayer.

Penzion Mayer is totally gorgeous, from the flower bedecked window sills, to the deck chairs in the garden, to the cosy breakfast room and of course the spacious, airy and comfortable rooms. It is spotlessly clean and well maiintained. Breakfast was lovely and for once, I actually dined in the hotel I was staying in because the food was really good and the restaurant atmospheric. I even had a view of the castle from my window. Also, the host gave me a lift to Bled Jezero railway station on the morning I left so I didn't have to get a taxi. I can't recommend this place highly enough.
