The photos of this hotel suggested a cube structure with sail like design in an isolated location which appeared contrary to the claims of it being "central ". As the taxi headed for the hotel on what were "dug up" back streets it began to look like the descriptions were less than honest. This first impression was far from the truth. Yes it was surrounded by some pretty major road construction but this was due to the new tram lines being installed which when finished will mean 20 yards from the front door a tram will take you to a stones throw of the Old market square for pennys. Nice to see EU money being put to good use and this is apparent throughout the city.
The hotel is small to medium and although it is apparently 10 years old it is clean, moderm and very well maintained with fixtures and fittings looking new. Our room was an odd triangular shape, due to the hotel being prism like and not cubed, but a good size corner location and in very good condition. There was a large bathroom with impressive seperate shower and bath, again all quality fittings.
If I wanted to be picky I could say no tea and coffee making facilities in room, but room service was inexpensive, all the TV channels were in Polish, except CNBC, but I was in Poland, or the hotel was very quiet but this was the first weekend in spring and what's wrong with quiet?
It was perhaps a brisk 15-20 minutes walk to the square but a taxi cost about 4 quid so there are alternatives and you can walk via the Citadella park which is impressive in it's own way.
In the end we paid about 70 pound per night/room for this hotel, enjoyed the swimming pool and sauna and would recommend to anyone.
