The last major reconstruction of this hotel was / by book about History of this hotel in the room desk/ was in 1987 and it is possible to see. Cracks in the walls, rust on balconies, old fashioned bathrooms with mould in the shower...
I spent here one night on bussiness trip and for one night it was suitable. But for more nights? Probably not.
Breakfast was nice surprise, tasty and everything from all corners. Room was clean up well - except the mould in the bathroom.
The position of this hotel is super - just in the centre of the main road with many restaurants, clubs, galleries.
This is not expensive hotel and if you are on budget, go.

It is not hotel grand. Staying at hotel under such name you can await a bit of luxury. Unfortunatelly you will not find it here. Hotel is old. It was used to be the best hotel in the city but it was 20 years ago I think. But to be honestits advantage is a perfect locaion and excellent restaurant. I hear that hotel was sold to new owner so maybe in few months time it will be improved. Check it before you decide to book a room!

Despite its name and long tradition, it's one of the worst hotels in Poland I've stayed in. The rooms are small, shabby, with old furniture of poor quality- the decor looks as if nothing has changed since the communist era. I liked the central location on Piotrkowska street but the disadvantage is that it can be quite noisy in the night.

The staff seem to be doing just about everything to contribute to the awful impression. Not only do you have to pay upon arriving, but they also demand additional deposit of 100 zl for the mini-bar and restaurant- well, just in case you steal something (do they regard it as commonplace among tourists?). Don't try to return to the hotel after 11 pm. I did (after the cinema) and the door was...closed (with no doorbell at all!). Thank God I had access to the internet in my mobile and was able to call the reception so that they could open it. I wasn't only asked in a rude manner to show my key (!) but the guy was checking my details for some 5 minutes....as if I was a potential criminal entering while all decent people were sleeping. Do come if you want to be treated like a thief- Grand Hotel is irreplaceable in this regard!

The Grand Hotel has been updated considerably since we first stayed here in 1996. The rooms have air conditioning,stocked mini-bar, wine glasses, a safe, slippers, sewing kit, shower cap, individual shower gels, shampoos, soap, shoe cloth, cosmetic kit, shower curtain (almost unheard of in Poland), bidet, WiFi, three phones in the room, sitting room, bellmen. Though the long, dark halls are eerie, the creaking floor reminds you of days gone by. Great food in the restaurant. We would definitely stay here again.
The hotel does not have a parking lot but if there's room you can park right in front of the hotel overnight.
