“A very good hotel w/pool, in a good location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

I have stayed in this hotel several times during my business trips to Lodz. It is almost new, the rooms are nicely decorated, in the modern style. Even the door opening system with messages (Do Not Disturb etc.) is electronical. I loved the pool, it is not a very small one as in some hotels, and when I was there, it was not crowded at all - one or two people. I can not exactly remember the bed, but if my memory does not tell me anything, it means it must have been very comfy :-). I have no bad experiences whatsoever with booking process (I always book by phone) or with the quality of service. The receptionists were always very polite. Breakfasts (buffet plus a possibility of ordering typical breakfast hot dishes) are OK, as well as the other meals at the restaurant. I usually come by train, but once I joined a collegue who arrived by car, so I know the hotel has a parking lot right next to it. The hotel is situated at a large and busy street, but I cannot recall any inconveniences related to it (noise). On the other side of the street there is a mall, not sure what shops and businesses are there, because unfortunately I never had time to go there. It seems that the number of smoking rooms is limited: I am a non-smoker myself, but once, when the hotel was full, I was surprised to see guests standing outside and smoking. The receptionists told me these are poor folks who did not manage to get a smoking room, because no ones had been left (hotel fully booked).

“Best or second best?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2011

Stayed here 3 days recently (September 2011). Booked through their Internet site. Make sure you book the hotel in the center of town.
The mid week price was 600 zloty for a suite. 390 zloty for a standard room. Prices including breakfast.
The hotel is only one year old, so the interior is fresh. The hotel has a bar, a large swimming pool, gym, saunas and parking.
The large suite has two bathrooms, and two large flat screen TV. There is no door between the sitting room and the bed room, so the suite feels like one LARGE room. Next time we will try a normal room. There is a safe, but that did not work, in none of the two suites we were offered. The flushing panel over the toilet, seem to lock in flushing position. The free wireless Internet did not give a strong enough signal for the suites. I had to sit next to the door to get the signal. There is cabled Internet in addition. There is a fridge for your drinks and food.
The Hotel has an excellent location, the rooms are delicate and sound proof. There is air-con and a fantastic breakfast. However, the hotel must fix the negatives as soon as possible. It is therefore I am a bit reluctant to give the five star. (five minus). However, it is the best hotel we have stayed in so far. Have tried most of the central ones (except Alders).

Pros: New hotel, parking, air con, sound insulation, pool, gym , breakfast, friendly staff.

Cons: Safe not working, Internet signal, flushing panel over toilet.

Room Tip: Go for a normal room. The sound insulation is great. Stay away from UK stag parties rooms.

“Excellent hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2011

We chose this hotel because of its location and the indoor pool. It is near the corner of Pilsudskiego and Kilinskiego where there are tram stops for many tram routes. It took us maybe 10 to 15 minutes to walk along Pilsudskiego past the Campanile Hotel, Galeria Lodzka shopping centre, Ibis Hotel and Silver Screen cinema to Piotrkowska – or you could take the tram. 24 hour tram tickets cost 9.60 PLN. Tickets are sold in newsagents and small green kiosks. Galeria Lodzka (open 9-9 daily) is almost next door and has many shops known in the UK, a Tesco supermarket, cafes and almost everything you could want. Across the road from the hotel there is another small shopping centre with an Alma supermarket which is quite upmarket (long opening hours). There is a 24 hour chemist beside the hotel. The taxi fare from the hotel to the airport was about 20 PLN.
The Ambasador reception staff are very pleasant and speak English. They have scales to weigh suitcases. The modern bedrooms are lovely and the beds are comfortable. Bathrobes and slippers are provided – useful for going down to the spa. There is a fridge, kettle and cups. Bottles of water and sachets of coffee, milk powder, sugar and tea bags were left daily. As the day progressed the water in the shower became cooler – so no evening showers for us. There were complimentary soaps, shampoos and shower gels. The hotel was built in 2010 and has an excellent air conditioning system with a touch screen control panel. To cool the room press the fan symbol continuously until the snowflake is illuminated. Free Wifi.
We booked directly with the hotel and the buffet breakfast was included in the price. It included fruit juices, hot drinks, sausages, bacon, fried and scrambled eggs, hot vegetables, cold meats, salad vegetables, breads, cereals, cheeses, yogurts and fruit. We dined in the hotel one evening and the meal was excellent. The menu is in English and Polish. It seems many restaurants in Lodz close or do not serve main meals from about 6 or 7 pm.
The swimming pool was lovely. Towels and water are provided for anyone using the gym, sauna, showers etc. Showers were hot when we went in the evening. Free lockers and hairdryers.
Everywhere was very clean.
We were delighted with this hotel and would recommend it.
There is also a Hotel Centrum and Hotel Ambasador Chojny. It is easy to be confused. On arrival the taxi took us to the wrong one.
