“Price NOT justified!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

It is small hotel very close to market square so the location is great. The hotel itself its small, reception tiny, reception staff friendly. We have been given quite large room however we have asked for double bed when booking and they gave as a room with two tiny single beds on two opposite sides of the room. We havent make a fuss as we knew we wont stay there long anyway. Furniture was appaling, dated and looked gross, honestly, the wardrobe was badly damaged and the its door stayed closed only with the little wegde holding it still which meant you wouldnt be able use it unless you're prepared to do a little diy. I have spotted 2 huge spiders tucked in their webs in the corners of the room.
Breakfast so alright not a big choice anyway, but it was fresh and well cooked. The room where breakfast is served is tiny and very dark and looks like a bar more than anything.
All this wouldnt bother me much if it was value hotel but what we paid was the price of good 4 star hotel. How this is justified do not know, but if you're after budget hotel it is not the one to go and if you fancy nice comfortable place to stay this is not a hotel for you.
They should lower the prices or upgrade their standards through and through.

“Simple but cosy (and pricey)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

The furniture reminds me a bit of holidays in communist Poland when I was a kid, but the rooms are spacious (even the single one), comfortable and very clean. The staff are friendly, and breakfasts generous.
Upsides: central location, quiet alley (hence the name? Zaułek=Alley), free wifi (slow connection).
Downsides: price is a bit high for the general standard, restaurant closes at 10 p.m. and if you're unlucky to arrive later you can't even get hot tea or coffee.
Generally recommended for not-too-demanding travellers who value peace and simple comfort.

“Dated but central and quiet”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2010

This hotel was a small surprise packet. While it's not modern and funky it does have a homely quality. The room we had was moderate size but had a personal 'lobby' area which we could shut off for that quite evening beverage. There are only ever a few guests staying and none of them were rowdy. My only quibble is that the staff never seemed to raise a smile. Not even once. Still, they did their best even if it was hit and miss with an English speaker / understander at the front desk.

“Very pleasant stay, would definitely return”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2010

This is a very small, university run guesthouse. I stayed 2 nights here and would highly recommend this hotel for its location and extremely friendly and kind staff. My room, a single, was large, comfortable and very clean. I can say I truly enjoyed my stay in this hotel. My only suggestion would be installing a ceiling fan in every room. The hotel does not have a/c but it is also in a location that does not have a lot of direct sunlight, so actually ceiling fans would be perfect for moving air and perhaps lowering the room temperature a couple of degrees.

“To see the sights of Wroclaw, this is a great place to stay.”

Hotel Zaulek is located in a quiet street next to the University and at the edge of the old town. Very good Polish food served in the restaurant. Breakfast particularly good. All reception staff spoke English, which was a great help to me. All staff very helpful.
Many bars and and restaurants close by. Five mins walk to the main square.
Hotel Zaulek would be my choice if I return to Wroclaw.
Note: No elevator, but this was of no concern to me.
