“Worked perfectly for us”

I recently stayed at Hotel Protea with a friend for a polish pottery trip. We arrived at one o'clock in the morning after a long drive but were greeted by a friendly man at the door. He let us in, helped us get checked in and opened the gated parking area for us. It was a very comfortable two night stay. I slept very well on a small twin bed, the shower was great, no temperature or water pressure problems and the free wireless internet worked great. The free breakfast was very good in a very cozy restaurant that felt like being in a log cabin in the middle of the woods. We enjoyed viewing all the pottery, dolls, and other art they had displayed and available to buy and we even bought a couple. The location is great for polish pottery shopping and we got good advice of where exactly to go (along with a map) at the front desk. We had a wonderful time. If I decide I need more pottery in the future, I will be staying here again.

“Excellent service, great beds, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 May 2011

We spend two nights here while I hunted down as much polish pottery as I could carry. The place is very clean, the beds were great and the staff very friendly. We were traveling with my 3 and 6 yr. boys and needed a large room for all of us and our suitcases. Not a problem. We got a very spacious room with 2 twins and one large double. My husband is 6 feet tall and he said the bed was great!

There is a restaurant on site. The included breakfast is okay but nothing great. It's straightforward. The dinner menu selection is very good and the food was also very good. The ladies running it were very friendly and really nice to the kids. We saw many other Americans there. For us, this was really nice because we had not seen our fellow countrymen in a while.

Overall the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. It is a PERFECT location near to many pottery stores and the ladies at the front desk can tell you where some other locations in the city are as well.

If I was going to Boleslawiec again I would definitely stay here. My only complaint: the front desk does not give you a free map of the city. There is one you can buy but none that are free. A simple thing but annoying.

“A fair place to stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2009

In my family's opinnion Protea Hotel is a very nice place. Personnel takes a good care of you, and the cuisine is perfect. If you are looking for a traditional hotel in south-eastern Poland you will not be dissapointed.

“Triple room means very small room with three small beds - No AC”

and the walls were paper thin. So AC was installed but not working anywhere. Room was smaller than a 1 person room with three beds jammed in, Walls were very thin, so we could hear 1 floor down and next door "nocturnal activity". Breakfast was unimpressive. Staff was friendly.

“Just super...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 February 2009

I came twice with a group of 8-10 women. The staff was wonderfully friendly, efficient, accommodating, and--yes--English-speaking. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The location is a bit off the beaten track, but not hard to find at all, and all the quieter for it. And the restaurant at the hotel was fantastic. With such a yummy breakfast included in the already low price, this was easily the best value of any hotel I've stayed at anywhere in Europe. We will definitely go back again (and again and again...) Also, the two closest pottery stores have also become two of my favorite three in Boleslawiec...
