We stayed at the Grand Hotel Stamary for 2 nights while in Zakopane. The hotel is beautiful, the room spacious and comfortable and the location excellent. The buffet breakfast was superb.

A well located gem of a hotel situated very close to the Zakopane town centre. I had a pleasure of staying at the Grand Stamary with my wife for an extended weekend in September 2011 and I have to say that it was a wonderful experience. The public areas of the hotel are very tastefully furnished with great attention to detail. A noticeable cleanliness throughout with very cheerful as well as helpful staff. The Spa, swimming pool area as well as the sauna complex again very interestingly designed, clean, luxurious with good quality and professional assistance. The suite on the third floor, which we were booked into was tastefully furnished, containing his and hers separate bathrooms. Well stocked minibar complimented by a regular daily supply of mineral water. The breakfast, which is served at the hotel's main restaurant is of a buffet nature, offering a selection of cereals, cold cheese and meat platter as well as the usual selection of hot plate essentials, expected from Zakopane's finest hotel. Actually looking forward to going back as it is a perfect base to explore the glorious Tatra mountains.

We arrived to find that reception could not find our prepaid reservation. They eventually found us a room - unfortunately it was room 101, basically right next door to reception and to the stairs to the restaurant.

There was a large group staying in the hotel at the time of our stay. From day one we felt as though we were an inconvenience to the hotel staff because of them being busy with this group - ie from the reception staff to getting breakfast in the morning.

We stayed three nights and on our second night they informed us that there would be a disco in the restaurant that night just below our room. They indicated that it would be impossible to change rooms and that we would definitely hear the noise. I was up until 2am with the noise - not what we were looking for when we booked our spa break.

The hotel itself was good and the spa treatments I had were okay. The best bit was probably the pool.

Location was also good as it was only a few minutes walk to the town centre, but had a place to park the car. Hiking in the Tatras was what we were there to do, and we could definitely do this from the hotel.

Overall, I would probably recommend this hotel if you can get an assurance that they don't have a conference group in. They informed us that it was impossible as we booked in June and the group was booked in August - we would have just liked some forward planning so that we weren't next to the disco! I guess we were disappointed to that we were made to feel like an inconvenience and the reception didn't even apologise or try to move us/compensate us for the disco in the middle of our stay.

We felt very comfortable here, great staff for assistance obviously been well trained. close to everything, we did lots of hiking trails, cable cars etc. easy to use buses. great spa areas very relaxing.
