“Will Not Be Returning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2008

This hotel apparently has two standards (we didn't know this until it was too late).
Originally picked as it was cheap & central in Zakopane.

When arrived it took 20 mins to check in! not the quickest.
got to the room in a corridor that could possibly be a youth hostel!!!
Our "double" room was in fact a single and a sofa bed from the 1970's.
the bathroom wasn't even big enough to get changed in. and your face is nearly in the sink every time you pee!!!!
Mattresses like stone... haven't had a night like that in a long time.
Breakfast is your average continental style, but with awful tea & coffee.

the hotel is central but thats all i can say about it thats good.

a piece of advice... pay extra & sleep better!!!!!

“GREAT VALUE, GREAT LOCATION, BUT......”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2008

DON'T!!!! I REPEAT, DON'T! DON'T BOOK THE CHEAPEST ROOM!!!!! It's called a double… and a tempting choice at such a low price. STAY AWAY! This "double" is actually a pullout couch and a single bed. The bathroom is so small that your face will literally be in the sink when you sit on the commode (no kidding!) The bathroom is about the size of two phone booths. No soap! No shampoo! Two very small towels. No phone. Room not kept very well. If you want hot water for tea, they have a table in the hallway with an electric teapot for joint use of all the rooms in this area.
Obviously, we were not happy with the room (#211).
However, and it’s a BIG “however,” the staff was extremely accommodating allowing us an upgrade after one night. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! We went from a “no star” room to at least a “three” and maybe even a “four” for our final 4 days. Our new room (220A) was wonderful. A large bathroom with soap and an assortment of large towels; a beautiful bedroom with a desk and a huge king-sized bed; a living room with couch, desk, two arm chairs, table, small refrigerator, electric tea pot; a spacious foyer with large armoire; hairdryer, soap, shoeshine material, etc. And all this for an extra 20 Euros a night! WELL WORTH IT. Still no phone and no shampoo, but easy to live with in this era of cell phones and toiletry kits.
The location is great, just a block from the train station and the bus terminal. There’s a small ski area right across the street. It’s only a short walk to the town center (maybe 7 or 8 minutes). The staff is very friendly and helpful and allowed us to leave our luggage in a room behind the front desk when we checked out at noon because our train wasn’t leaving until 8 pm. The buffet breakfast (included with room) was actually less than basic with a platter of cold sliced meats and cheese being the main food, with one hot item each day (the sausages were fine but the eggs were awful.) No fruit, no dairy products like yogurt or cottage cheese, no juice. For morning drinks, tea bags and a jar of instant coffee and cocoa are placed by the hot water urn. In other words, why bother! We probably would have been better off walking to McDonald’s for breakfast and paying a few slotys for real coffee, juice and an Egg McMuffin. Having said all that, the value would have been good even if no breakfast were offered.
Overall, from the second night onward and with the exception of breakfast, the experience improved vastly. In short. Positive: good value for the money, friendly staff, great location, clean. Negative: buffet breakfast, lower-priced double rooms. I rate this hotel a 4 as long as you stay in the better rooms. If you stay in #211 and the like, I rate is a big "0" goose egg!

  • Liked — The new room after first night (#220A)
  • Disliked — The old cheaper room (#211) and the buffet breakfast

“basic but absolutely fine”

Just back from Kolejarz, right next to where the bus stops from Krakow. We had a big room with a separate living area , lovely clean bathroom, great shower. Breakfast basic but plentiful and did the job. You can catch mini buses to the main walkig area at Kurnice right ouside the bus station . Food in town excelent value and very meaty (I suggest you avoid the "Mothers bread with homemade lard" on offer at many restaurants but thats up to you). Zakopane is a vibrant exciting and very unusual place. Like the Ramblas in the Alps - highly recommend

“Not bad for price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 March 2007

Booked this as it was one of the cheapest places in Zakopane. Even though we booked a double we were given a twin, with the explanation an apartment in Polish is a Double and a double is actually a twin (my Polish girlfriend had never heard of this). The rooms were cleanish and basic, but no soap and one tiny toilet roll that we had to chase for a new one as it wasn't replaced. Also the bin was overflowing before it was replaced, the light in the doorway was gone and the door handle kept falling off...
Breakfast was a selection of bread, cold meat and cheese with a daily hot dish e.g. scrambled egg, keilbasa.
Best part is it's next to the rail & bus station so access to the ski buses is about a 2 min walk. You can also hire skis in the hotel but there are cheaper places around.
