I stayed here with two friends the summer of 2010. The hotel rooms were basic, the sleeping space was small - felt like we were in a dormatory, but really, we were only there to sleep and change so it was not a problem. On hot summer nights and bright summer mornings,we did wish that our windows opened and our curtains closed though! It was hot in the room at night and we had to wake with the sun! The view from our room was amazing, however, and a lovely scene to wake up to.
Room aside, the hotel location was PERFECT for our needs. The breakfast was good (though I don't think I will ever become accustomed to the Eastern European way of scrambling eggs--- too much liquid egg for most North Americans' taste, but hey, when in Rome...) Everything else on the buffet was great! We were able to check our e-mail on the lobby computer and we found the staff to be friendly and helpful. They helped us arrange a bus tour that included a tour of Niedzica Castle and a wooden raft trip down the Dunajec River. And they helped us locate the restaurant Chata Zbojnicka, a dining experience that every visitor to Zakopane MUST experience. (Hint... if they don't open the door for you when you knock to be let in... keep knocking! You won't be disappointed if you have any sense of adventure! :-)
If (hopefully "when") we return to Zacopane - we might opt for a place with more of the local character, but I have no real complaints about this hotel and the view and location are ideal.
