“Big Room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

Quite enjoyed our stay from 29th - 30th September 2011.

Location - Close to the bus station which is a plus point for us.
As we needed to catch a bus to Poprad the next morning at 9.15am, we found somewhere near the bus station and without having to drag our big luggages from the bus station (where we came from) to the hotel and from the hotel to the bus station. Although the hotel is within close proximity to the bus station, the hotel surrounding is quite serene.

Getting to the main shopping street isn't difficult. It is just a short walk and there's a park before the shopping street. Good to take photos here.

Facilities - The facilities (indoor swimming pool and spa) look good and the prices of the spa look affordable as well. However, we did not have time to use the facilities which was a pity.

Room - The double room is big. The bathroom is detached from the room as in there is a small room for the wardrobe and bathroom before you enter the main bedroom. The bed is comfortable and clean.

Bathroom - Bathroom is clean. I'm very particular on bathroom but this one is good. It's really a spa place.

Breakfast - The breakfast spread is reasonably ok. I liked the service when we were asked how we like our eggs to be prepared. But having eaten the same type of breakfast for the past few days, I wouldn't say the breakfast is fantastic.

Reception - The reception wasn't as friendly as we would expect. I wasn't too sure if it's uncommon for Asians to visit the place because the reception looked shocked when we checked in. Similarly, when we checked out, they didn't look too friendly as well. I would reduce a star for the reception.

“Cute”

Walk right from the bus. Close to everything. Had the corner room. Indoor pool. Breakfast included and includes cook to order. The showers are funny because the glass only covers part of the tub. Somehow we soaked the bathroom each time. Has heated floor. Each and every one of the front desk staff are extremely welcoming and helpful. All speak great English. One even knew we were catching a bus early in the morning, so she pack us sandwiches, fruit, and drinks. If you're willing to spend this kind of money, then this place is great. If you're looking to save, many Polish people are looking to open up their homes to visitors. You'll usually find them on the street or at bus depot soliciting.

“Comfortable and affordable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

We stayed here for four days in December 2010 and found it to be a great deal for the money. The corner room was large with nice views and contained all the amenities we could want. The spa facilities include a nice indoor pool, steam room, dry sauna ...all free of charge with your stay. Breakfast was really nice with individually cooked hot dishes from the kitchen as well as an extensive buffet, served in a beautiful dining room. Overall service was outstanding. Staff members were pleasant and accommodating. I would have given it five stars except for a company Christmas party that went on half the night on the last night of our stay, keeping us awake until 3 am. My wife did give the culprits hell at breakfast that morning, but we felt the management should have quelled the noise at a reasonable hour. Other than that, we really like Villa Marilor and will definitely return the next time we're in Zakopane. It would be difficult to beat the price and the amenities. Oh, one other thing, it's located close to the train station and only a short walk to the pedestrian area with its shops and restaurants.

Room Tip: Ask when you book.

“Hotel Marilor is Charming”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

I would agree that this is not a 5-star hotel, but it is one of the best in Zakopane. This hotel is a charming, old world 20-room hotel that is kept in very nice condition. The staff are formal but pleasant, as is the dining room. Cuisine is excellent. The pool is a bit chilly if you are not swimming actively. There is a fee to use the jacuzzi and the salt room - nominal, about $6 USD. The location is great if you arrive by bus or by train to Zakopane, because it is about 200 m from train station and 100m from bus roundabout. It is about 4 blocks from the center of town, where all of the shops and restaurants are located. If you want to be in the middle of alll the action, stay at the Litwor. The tennis court was not usable in October due to mold and leaves growing on the court. Spa prices are reasonable and masseuse was great. The mattresses are average to slightly below average, but ok. The bathrooms are spacious and elegant. Overall very clean. Heat control was very good.

Room Tip: Rooms on the main level are very convenient. The corner room on the main level is a nice double tha...
