My family and I stayed here for four nights in December 2012. This hotel is in the heart of the Zakopane restaurant and entertainment district which is very convenient. It is also within short driving distance of the major ski resorts and Casprowy Wierch. From the hotel, you can walk to the train station and many different restaurants. There is also a local street scene which includes a street market and some minor musical entertainment. During the holiday season there are extensive decorations and lighting. Mixed with some snow on the ground, the ambience is quite magical.
Our room had a mostly wood decor (think log cabin) with a very modern bathroom. The latter includes a heated towel rail and a small but attractive shower and sink. The room and particularly the bathroom were kept spotless by housekeeping. One note is that bathroom curiously had no shaver outlet and in particular, nothing for 110V devices. Overall, we found the accommodation comfortable and pleasant. A few more important notes about the room though, there is no room safe and the doors are locked with a traditional key. This means that you must lock the door every time you go inside the room unless you are comfortable leaving it unlocked. Perhaps more importantly, the rooms are poorly insulated for noise from the hallway, adjoining rooms and the street outside. If you are a light sleeper or sensitive to sound, you may found the sound of the neighbor's toilet flushing or merry revellers in the hallway or street quite disturbing.
The hotel reception staff were friendly and efficient and check in and out was accomplished painlessly. There is paid parking (50 Polish Zlotys/day) across the street from the hotel in a gated lot. There were occasional minor delays in getting in and out of this lot but this would probably only matter to the most impatient traveller.
There is no gym but there is a small indoor pool with associated sauna and spa facilities on the second floor. There is also a small solarium where you can sit in a couple of reclining chairs with a view of the street below and the Tatra mountains. The pool is big enough for short laps and heated enough to be comfortable after a warm up. it will delight small children but will be most fun with low occupancy.
The hotel restaurant also features a log cabin/natural wood theme and is very cosy and welcoming with a roaring fire and warm lighting. I found the fare which is Polish and regional to be delicious and perfect after a day on the slopes or in the cold. Try the goulash with robber style pancakes or the onion soup. Draft Zywiec beer will also make a welcome change for those who have had to make do with canned and lesser brews elsewhere. The wait service falls somewhere between cheerless and businesslike but that is not entirely unexpected for the region or Poland and if you are not high maintenance or overly sensitive, you will get by.
