Stayed here in August 2010 during the real warm weather. I had been to the Giewont 25 years ago - in its Glory. Now it is 1/2 KFC in the front and 1/2 Pizza Hut and on the loudest corner of Zakopane. I'm someone who goes to Vegas at least once a year, so I'm not a hermit traveler... I like to have fun. But even with the windows closed, the yelling in the street - ALL night long is ridiculous.
There is no High Speed Internet. You can try and connect in the KFC for free. In your room, you pay by buying and Orange card.
The only nice thing about this place was the breakfast included that we paid for in advance.
And the lady who took care of the tables was very sweet. The front desk seemed like prison camp guards. There was a one room travel agent who was pretty nice on letting you know about things. We appreciated that.
The room was a sad throw back to communist living. Bare essentials.
Dont get me wrong. Zakopane was a great time but stay somewhere else and watch the prices at the vendors, they fluctuate and there's plenty of 'em. Watch the parking charges too - about $7. American per day and they were friends of the hotel!
Also the one road that leads to Zakopane should be an hour from Krakow. It tooks us 2 1/2 in the bumper to bumper traffic. And don't mail post cards from there. Mine took 2 months to arrive in the USA. The cards I sent from Warsaw at end of my trip arrived in a month.

In Poland for a Skiing trip with four others in Zakopane for seven days, Front desk could have a bit more informtion and tips on the Area, ( Like bring a Passport if you need to rent ski's. Breakfast is good and the staff in the breakfast room friendly as to the accommodation staff .

All in all the hotel is what is cheap and in a great location.

Zakopane is full of bars and restaurants mustly local food being servied, Plain and Tasty Food.

reception staff very rude .On pointing out we had no hot water it takes 20 mins to get luke warm water the reception staff told us it wasnt their fault the hotel is old.rooms not cleaned properly, not very warm.definately not very helpful.worst hotel i have ever stayed in.

Spacious and old world, but with heating that is rationed, staff that are as friendly as maximum security prison guards, bedding that doesn't fit and tatty fixtures and fittings. I certainly wouldn't recomend this hovel to anyone. What surprised me most was the fact that it is part of the Accor Hotel group, and the lack of interest shown by management to complaints was unbelieveable.
