APARTMENTHOUSE Szczepanska is the partner apartmenthouse to Grodska and is not recommended.
We stayed in the Rembrandt apartment, and there IS NO VIEW of the Rynek right now due to scaffolding. Although the room's architectural features are impressive the apartment is soulless, there are no decent curtains, just a flimsy blind, and only double doors between this and the adjoining apartment. Our neighbours came in at 5am and it was like they were in the room with us! The apartment layout is wierd with all the furniture along the two opposite walls, and the bed right next to the window. The 'kitchenette' is a sink, a fridge and two hot rings - no microwave, no grill or toaster. We checked out after one night.

This was our 5th stay at the Grodzka apartments and having stayed at many other apartments in Krakow, we have now decided this will always be our place of choice for future visits.
The apartments are on in the old town about 50 metres from the main square on a pedestrian street. All of the apartments have basic cooking facilities and are very well decorated.
Unlike most apartments in Krakow, this place has a reception which makes the stay free of hassle and they are able to offer suggestions over things to do etc.
One key feature which we now appreciate greatly having stayed elsewhere around the city is that there are also security doors to get to the main staircases in order to prevent people walking in during the night.
Provided you do not overlook the main street (the vast majority are set back behind the building) then the rooms are extremely quiet.
Highly recommended but all apartments are upstairs so if you are travelling with elderly people then this is not the place for you.

I can absolutly recomend Grodzka Apartmenhouse to everyone. It's situated in the middle of Krakow Old Town, very friendly stuff and very high standard of the apartments. Close to everything you want, shops, entertainment, sightseeing, night clubs and great restaurants. I must go back there again.

We stayed in 4 Grodzka Apartmenthouse for 7 nights, in October. This was the first time I had stayed in an Apartment for a city break, following TA forum advice, and really enjoyed the freedom.

We stayed in the White apartment which was clean, spacious and warm (even in very cold weather). Perhaps a little less sleek than the internet pictures suggest, but none the worse for that. The private balcony would be especially nice for relaxing in fine weather.

The kitchen area was well equipped with fridge, sink, cooking rings, pots, pans, crockery and even some washing up liquid and cloth. The bathroom was spacious and the big heated towel rail was great for drying out some clothing we washed!

Bed was comfy except there are only very small pillows, but I think this is common in Poland. Lighting was good and there is TV, hairdryer and an iron in the rooms.

The location is fantastic, literally on the very edge of the main Square, so it is very handy for sightseeing, eating out, etc. Absolutely no street noise or other disturbances though.

We booked by email through www.grodzka.net.pl or you can also find them at krakow4you. Our emails were dealt with very quickly and efficiently and no deposit was asked for.

There is a locked door at the bottom for extra security at night (you get a key!) and the entrance and stairwell are clean and attractive, with an office for any queries. I would advise anyone to watch which floor they are on if stairs are a problem, as there is no elevator, but this applies to most apartments.

There is a Fitness Centre and laundry facility, too, but we didn't use either of them.

My only slight criticism would be that staying for 7 nights, it would have been nice to get clean towels and rubbish emptied maybe once.

All in all, an excellent choice for anyone who does not particularly like or need hotel facilities, and very good value for money.
