“City Sanctuary”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Perfect.

I wanted to go back to Poland (my ancestral home) for my birthday and introduce my husband to its beauty, culture, warmth and cuisine. We could not have chosen a better hotel. We were welcomed with the warmest of smiles and barszcz, just the thing as it was -17°C when we landed! The hotel is beautiful, elegant and comfortable. A 10 minute walk from the city centre and only 5 minutes from the train & bus stations. The lack of TV was a pleasure to us, why do you need one on holiday? Breakfast was the highlight of each day, taking me back to my childhood and reminding me of my beautiful Babka.

Despite being adjacent to a main road, the hotel was extremely quiet and peaceful. We felt relaxed and at home immediately and would recommend it to anyone wishing to experience the true warmth and hospitality of the Polish people so naturally evident in this wonderful family.

We look forward to our return.

“Our short stay in Krakow”

We stayed in this Guest House for a few nights while attending a wedding in Poland. The owners are extremely friendly and very helpful, in fact they spent some 30 minutes giving us local information. There is parking outside which is a great bonus if you have a car in Krakow. The new and enormous Galleria shopping centre is 5-10 minutes walk away and is accessed via a walkway under the station. A further 15 minutes walk takes you to the central square of Krakow. A buffet breakfast is served in the back room overlooking the garden and the rooms are traditionally furnished.

“Everything was great! ...We just missed the piano :-)”

We had a very warm welcome at 'The Piano Guest House'! From the moment you walk into this B&B you feel @home, in a nice family. The rooms are very comfy, the bed makes you dream about Krakow... When you wake up there is a delicious breakfast waiting for you (fresh fruits, vegetables, warm breads...), including a morning talk with the owner. You can ask about his/her recommendations for nice restaurants, sightseeing...
It's very easy to get to the city centre of Krakow, just a walk of 10 minutes. The train station is even closer. The B&B is situated at a mainroad, but this however, doesn't disturb at all. There's a good acoustic isolation.
Overall, this was the perfect place to stay in Krakow! We only can recommend this B&B for a unforgetable stay at Krakow! Thank you Ola and Tadeusz! greetz, Stijn and Tineke

“So nice, but disappointing”

We wanted to love the Piano Guest House, but we couldn't. The house is beautiful, truly lovely, and the rooms are spacious and gracious. Decorated with fresh flowers. Breakfast was fabulous, and available from 8:00 until whenever. Our bus was delayed at the Polish border, and the son stayed up until 1:45 AM to let us in. There was so much to love, but...after a couple of days we realized we just didn't. It's hard to pin down just what the problem was. It was as if we were interlopers in someone's home. It wasn't as friendly and cozy as many other b&b's. Part of the problem was that the owner can't understand English at all. She can say a few things, but her receptive English is non-existent, so she can't understand or answer a question. There were almost no maps and other tourist information available. When the son was around, we could communicate, but he wasn't always there, and it was very frustrating trying to call up French vocabulary 40 years after high school to talk with Madame. Although we weren't put off by the location near the highway and train line, it would have been a much greater problem if it hadn't been chilly and rainy, with the windows closed. If it had been hot, we would never have gotten any sleep. We had very little interaction with any other guests, which seemed oddly cold to us, after other b&b's which foster guests meeting each other.

The price was certainly right, and we had no problem with the short walk to town, although for some it would be difficult. Despite what other reviewers have said, it took us only 5 minutes to get to the bus-train station complex, which is on the edge of the central area.

If you know French or Polish, most of the problems disappear, and it's a lovely place to stay.

“Ideal little plave if your looming for a budget get away!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 March 2011

Myself & 2 friends stayed here last week for 4 nights... We booked this guesthouse after reading the previous reviews on Tripadvisor & as it had some of the best reviews for places to stay in Krakow we thought we would give it a go... The guesthouse is situated on the main road which looks like a run down area of Krakow literally next door to the main centre but after going around & about Krakow itself there seems to be many buildings that look the same very run down & not to plesent to the eye... Nether the less the guesthouse itself is very sweet & in an ideal location & has everything you need if you want somewhere cheap to stay in the city! The owners son collected us from the airport & once back at the guesthouse we were welcomed by the owner who provided us with tea, coffee, cake & as much info as we needed to know about Krakow which was really kind of them... The rooms are traditional & the beds were very very comfy! The bathroom was clean, with fresh towels & a brilliant shower which was lovely to stand under after a
hard days walking... The guesthouse is about a 10 minute walk to the
start of the main centre as you hit the bus station & taxi rank firstly
then about another 10 minute walk
gets you into the main square which
is just beautiful! The buildings,
churches, shopes etc are amazing &
I would recommend anyone to go there to experience Krakow life!
There were plenty of bars &
restuarants & if you enjoy walking
you will be fine as there is ao much
to discover! We visited Shindlers
Factory, The Ghetto area's & of
course we spent a day at Auschwitz & Birkenau where words can not describe... So all in all the guesthouse is a great budget place to stay, nothing fancy & only has the basics with a good breakfast & help from the owners if you need it... Worth a stay... but I would only stay there in a group rather than on your own due to the location & in quiet season there is no one else around & the owners are only there if you need them...
