The Hotel Monika is situated just outside the North of Krakow city centre. It's a nice, clean hotel that is effeciently run. The rooms were basic but comfortable.
I was initally worried about the proximity of the 2 railway lines that seem to run very close to the hotel on the map. The noise of the trains (which don't run during the night) is negligible if the door to the balcony is closed, if however you have the door open at night (the room didn't have any air-conditioning) the noise will wake you early in the morning.
It's easy to get into Krakow from the hotel on the bus - it takes about 10 minutes and there's a stop right outside the hotel (which wasn't in operation when we stayed as there's roadworks on the road that are due to be completed in November 2007). The bus costs 2.50 Zloty for a single to Krakow, the last bus back to the hotel is around 23:30. It's only around 15 Zloty in a taxi though. I'd recommend the hotel and would stay in it again.
