When we arrived at Hotel Classic we were advised that due to essential repairs being carried out to the AC units we were unable to occupy our rooms and were moved to the hotel next door, Hotel Campanille.
However, upon arrival at Campanille we were given rooms of far inferior quality to that of Hotel Classic. The rooms were cramped and unclean, the beds were uncomfortable and the television was not working. In addition, the breakfast servings were also of poor quality and the toasting machine did not work.
When I complained we were all of a sudden able to move into our rooms for one night. Hotel Classic was a far superior quality hotel and I believe that we were allowed to book this hotel knowing full well that there was no space and they were able to move us next door to a hotel that was not good quality.
Despite making our concerns known the hotel refused to compensate us suitably for the problems that we had. We were instead advised to contact the booking company in order to arrange this.
Despite doing this our complaint was ignored and we have not received any compensation.

Room was very tidy and clean.
Shower was very powerful which was nice after a days walking :)
Only niggle I may have had was the windows did not seem to drown out much noise coming from the street, although the hotel is situated on a quiet street so this was not a constant problem.

This small, boutique-type hotel (about 27 rooms) is ideally located for exploring the old town of Krakow. It's only a short walk from the old town square and only a few steps away from nearby restaurants and bars.

Security is good, as anyone accessing the elevator has to first pass the receptionist and can only call the elevator by swiping their room key. The hotel has a small bar in the basement where breakfast is served but we never used it as there are so many places to eat and drink nearby.

Our room was quite large with a separate sitting area. The bed was rather thin wit only a mattress and no box spring beneath it. The bathroom had a very modern appearance but there was no shower curtain around the bath which made it very difficult to get a shower without spraying water all over the bathroom. There was a small flat screen TV with three English speaking channels but they were all news channels (CNN, BBC and CNBC). Free Internet access was available via a cable connection.

The buffet breakfast was rather basic (as to be expected from a small hotel) and included a selection of cold meat and cheeses, fruit and cereals (no hot food).

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and our stay there was very enjoyable.

We particularly recommend the Oldsmobil bar and restaurant a few yards away (Dog in the Fog signage) for terrific local food, at very reasonable prices, with a very friendly owner/manager.

This is a basic hotel which I would have given a better score except for the fact that even though I paid in full for the 5 rooms that I booked months ago, I received an e-mail the day before leaving saying that they could not accomodate our last night as they had "important contractors" coming and needed our rooms! We were offered a reduction on the last night to stay in another hotel plus a bottle of wine for each room, but I still thought it was a poor show. The rooms that we had all faced the back of the hotel onto dreary other buildings. Our room was large but desperately needed a re-decorate and had a rather depressing feeling about it (room 203). Others in our party had better rooms with a little lounge area attached. The varnished bathroom door was very badly scratched and made the small room look very shabby. I would imagine the rooms at the front are better as more daylight comes through. We got a good rate through booking with the hotel direct at 70 euros per room, but perhaps this was because we had the back rooms. The breakfast room was quite nice even though it is in the basement, but good lighting made it welcoming. Breakfast was rather disappointing - lots of salad, small pieces of cheese and ham, but if you were lucky there was scrambled egg and bacon but this seemed to run out very quickly. For our last night we were moved to their sister hotel, Hotel Ascot, which was much nicer but another 5 minutes outside the centre.
