“At least a good location...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2011

I had five nights on a recent business trip.. On arrival its quick to notice this should be a 3 star hotel..The room I had was very small and really should have been decorated some years ago. The staff where fine, athough like the hotel somewhat "tired" with the exception of the Saturday receptionist who was very helpfull.. On reflection I am baffled by the 4 star rating and would not stay there agian....

My wife and I stayed at the Amadeus for three night. Hotel couldn't be in a better location, just off the main square. Rooms are nicely furnished. Hotel has old world charm.

“Good location”

I had 2 nights in this OK hotel, the location is excellent, breakfast is served in a buffet type setting and has enough variety to please most over a couple of days. My room was light, clean and reasonably spacious. The bed was rather lumpy so a few beers did aid a reasonable sleep! I would stay here again but only because of its location, for 130 euro per night a decent bed would be an advantage.

Room Tip: 106 has a dreadfull mattress.

“4 star price for 3 star service”

We had really high expectations for this hotel. The hotel website made it sound really special and worth the price but it wasn't worth the money.

The reception day staff weren't friendly and didn't go out there way to make your stay feel welcome. The hotel room was very small and dusty, with a prehistoric radiator, I have seen nothing like it in my life and it was so noisy it kept us awake. Our bed sheets weren't changed over our 7 night stay we know this because hairs were on the covers, carpet wasn't hoovered either it was quiet grubby. Also shampoo and shower caps weren't replaced.

We had no bath just a shower, we asked at the reception if we could change to a room that had a bath but were told only the 2 suites have baths, it never said this on the website. If we had known this we wouldnt have booked there, exploring krackow is very tiring and of course exciting and it would have been nice to relax in a bath at the end of the evening.

We Dined in the restaurant one night and didn't even get a drinks or wine menu. We were very disappointed with the food, very very small portion and not very much choice at all.

The breakfast was a buffet continental, on the room service menu for breakfast it stated fried eggs but when we went down for breakfast there wasn't any fried eggs just cheeses and meat/ cereal and buns.. not good, gave us a bad stomach on a morning.

The only good thing about this hotel is excellent location and the bar man in the hotel bar was lovely. It's as if the hotel want to be 4 star but can't be bothered to put in the effort and meet the standards. The hotel is more like a 3 star very average.

“Close to Rynek Glowny, Friendly, Well-Maintained Hotel”

We stayed at the Amadeus in early September 2011. The hotel is easily walkable from the train station with rollable luggage by using the underpass and going through the Planty. The hotel is just a couple of blocks from the Rynek Glowny with all its restaurants and activities and the Sukiennice (Cloth Hall) for shopping. The hotel’s staff is friendly and spoke good English which made asking questions, asking directions, and booking our excursion to Auschwitz-Birkenau easy. We had pre-booked one night’s dinner in their well appointed restaurant and had an excellent meal. Breakfasts were plentiful and there was steamed milk for coffee and tea. There was computer in the nook off the front desk area that could be used for free. Our room was well-maintained and comfortable. If returning to Krakow we would defintely return to the Amadeus.
