Part of the 'Best Western' chain, the rooms vary from new minimalist ones to the more traditional, somewhat jaded, carpeted ones. I had a room in the latter category - having opted to book a 'special deal' initially through 'Booking.com' for 4 nights and then extending for a further 5 once in Krakow. It nonetheless represented good value - but worth noting that I obtained a further reduction of 36 zl per night for the last 5 nights by quoting the lower Polish 'Krakow In Your Pocket' guide website rates (only discovered once I was in town).
Room and bathroom themselves were a little cramped and decoration certainly a bit tired. However, the bed was comfortable, there was an effective power shower, two bottles of water were provided daily and it was very clean. Being at the back of the hotel, rather than overlooking the main road outside, meant it was also very quiet. Staff were friendly and helpful and the buffet breakfasts were just excellent.
Great location too - being a stone's throw from the Old Town and the truly wonderful family-run winery and restaurant a few metres away ('Klimaty Poludnia'). Take note: well-worth going there (a hidden treasure!).
Only complaint was that the hotel seems to plug the one tourist agency (MCTI) - not the cheapest and, in my experience of doing three tours with them, not the best! My Auschwitz-Birkenhau excursion, for example, included an unscheduled (and unannounced) two hour wait at a fast-food pizza restaurant on the way back, waiting for some of our group on a different tour at the camps: not in line with the tour description when booking. Agency apologised but did not offer any compensation for arriving back in town two hours later than scheduled. My advice, therefore, would be to ignore the hotel's offering of tourist trips on arrival, wait until the next day and choose one of the other offices in town or do the trips independently on public transport. An uncomplicated (and cheaper) procedure, for sure.
Room Tip: Ask for one at the back of the hotel.
