“Basic Accommodation”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 February 2011

This hotel provided basic accommodation. The room was clean and sheets/towels were changed daily. Mattresses were not the most comfortable and flat pillows were provided which you could roll up. There was a portable TV in the room but channels were limited - only the World News Channel was available in English. No coffee/tea making facilities were available in the room although I think reception would provide a kettle if requested. The shower was great!
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. We arranged trips to Auschwitz and the Salt Mine through the hotel reception.
There is nothing to do in the hotel. There is no communal lounge area - the Restaurant, bar area and garden were all closed during our stay. The internet access was out of order. There are lots of little eating places and bars near to the hotel. The ones we went to were all lovely and provided relatively inexpensive food and drinks. The main market square is probably 15-20 minutes walk from the hotel.
Breakfast in the hotel was continental style, breads, meat cheese, cereals, etc and was plentiful.
Adequate for a short break. If I was going again or for a longer time I'd look for a hotel with more facilities.

“Great value city break”

Just returned from a great mini holiday to Krakow. The Regent hotel was fantastic value and we would definitely return. It is situated in the Jewish quarter, with cafes/restaurants nearby, and a 15 min walk from the main square. The staff are very friendly, the rooms are spotless and we even got clean sheets/towels each night. The breakfasts were excellent, with hot and cold food, fruit, juices, tea/coffee on tap. The whole trip (booked on Travel Republic) was an incredible bargain

“Comfortable hotel in good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2011

Travelled to Poland with a group of 11 ladies and stayed at the Hotel RT Regent in Krakow. Some rooms had low sloped ceilings but very good facilities, very clean & comfortable. Breakfast good variety of cereals, hot dishes and continental meats etc. Toaster technique took a while to master. Garden area being renovated so did not get a chance to rate the outside café area.
> Hotel located within easy walking of many bars and restaurants one of which was exceptionally accommodating and very reasonably priced. Starka Restaurant and Vodkas is literally 2 minutes walk from this Hotel (left out of main entrance) and we returned there most evenings. Lovely food and very welcoming atmosphere. Wonderful home made vodkas - especially the raspberry -but we tried all the flavours!! The female owner Joanna was lovely as were the waiters etc often moving other tables to fit our large party in without prior booking etc. Loved the food and the puddings and very reasonably priced.
> Jewish quarter very expensive. Be prepared to wait everywhere a very long time for drinks/food etc to arrive, even when just ordering coffee & cake but when they do arrive they are well worth it! Snacks are very reasonable (pretzels etc) from street vendors and wonderful ice creams.
> Approx 30 minutes to walk to the centre from Hotel - very good quality shoes and clothing and some bargains to be found at the shops on the way. The horse and carriages are spectacular and the market in the main square was fabulous. Lots of amber jewellery, leather goods, rugs etc bargain prices.
> Salt mine trip was fantastic and the guide managed to have an English sense of humour. Be warned that those with reduced walking ability there are still many stairs as the lifts go only so far. Lots of amazing lamps and gifts made from the salt in the gift shops. The little café by the entrance was really cheap for sausage in a bun etc. We tried to do Auschwitz and the salt mines in one day (DON’T) but would not advise this as no time for proper lunch, and exhausting day. Thank goodness for Starka restaurant & raspberry vodka that night after we got back!!!

“No Complaints”

Stayed at the Hotel RT Regent 17th-19th Nov 2010.
Great hotel, very friendly and helpful staff, clean and good choice for breakfast.
We also used the hotels recommended tour operator for our 2 trips; 1 to Auschwitz and 1 to the salt mines. We did both trips in one day and had a great experience.
We would highly recommend the Starka Restaurant which is about 4 doors down the street from the hotel - food is outstanding and of a high standard; the service very high standard. We were served by a young lady which was her first week in the job and she was very polite and courteous .
We would love to return to Poland and would not hesitate to stay in the Hotel Regent and eat in the Starka Restaurant .
Also if you would like to visit where Schindlers List was filmed, this is just behind the hotel
