Excellent hotel close to old city square. Really clean with very helpful staff. Good food.
Amazing location - Just 5 mins walk from Market Square. Surrounded by nice bars and restaurants. 15 minutes walk from the shopping mall and bus/train station. But still located in a very quiet and serene area.
Very helpful staff - Anders and Anna were simply amazing during booking. Thank you!
Breakfast was rich and available for all tastes.
Only glitch during our stay there was that our double bed was in fact two single beds put together. While this is normal procedure in most hotels, in Hotel Wawel, there was actually the wooden frame of the single beds which could be seen in the middle. Cosying up close against your partner would make you sleep right on that wooden frame and god knows how much that hurts your back. But other than that, we would highly recommend this hotel. 5 stars from us.

In historic centre. Easy access to main sights and transport.
Hotel small & friendly (by East european standards) in quiet side street. Staff helpful for directions, taxi booking etc. - receptionist loaned me her umbrella for a meeting. Thanks! Good location in historic centre for central sights; transport - tram, bus & train station; & for several Jagiellonian University buildings (trip was work related). As a lone woman, felt safe around hotel vicinity & central Krakow. Easy transport links around city & 30 mins taxi to airport. Convent opposite rings bells for mass around 7 & 8am so alarm not needed! Free wifi in hotel. Small breakfast room, ample continental fare (included) constantly replenished 7-10am. First floor conservatory (coffee machine, computer/internet terminal). Lift. Steam room & jacussi used once (extra payment which was a hassle & necessitated booking in advance as this is for private bookings only) but worthwhile after a long day. Many restaurants, coffee bars, cake & confectionary shops, bars within 500 metres of hotel. My second floor room spacious, secure & well equipped, workdesk helpful. Small empty fridge provided in room - why don't more hotels do this?! BBC world news/CNBC available on multi-lingual TV channels. Air con. & heating control in room quiet & efficient. Spacious bathroom, shower, plenty of decent towels, large mirror, good lighting & a hairdryer. No toiletries provided apart from soap but did not find this a problem as I take my regular brands with me.
Would visit again for business/leisure.
This hotel is great ! Great location, in the heart of the old town. Within a two minute walk from main square and 5 min walk from the castle. My group of 36 arrived at 10 am in the morning after an early flight from UK, and we were allocated all rooms immediately. This was an added bonus as we had all been up since 3 am !
Staff very friendly and accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely friendly feel to the hotel. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would definitely return again ..... Don't tell too many people how good it is or you might not get in yourself !
We stated at the Wawel in December 16th to 19th December 2011 and we totally enjoyed it. You dont usually find it on many of the holiday booking sites, we only found it when we were walking around Krakow centre on a previous trip.
From the moment we walked through the door, this hotel had the wow factor for us. The service was first class, the rooms and hotel are super clean and the decor is a feaure in itself, some of the corridors are painted with scenes from Krakow and from Polish history and also of the hotels history.
Our room was large and well appointed with a new and modern bathroom and shower. The bed was very comfy and as the hotel is at the bottom of a little side street it was lovely and quiet even though the surrounding area was bustling with Christmas tourists and locals alike who were frequenting the restaurants close by.
Breakfast was continental style, but for no extra charge the kitchen will rustle you up bacon, eggs etc, the dining room is quite small and had a lovely intimate atmosphere, particularly of an evening, again all scrupulously clean. We loved The Orangery in the hotel, and whilst it wasnt being used during our stay we could imagine that its a real feature in the Summer. There is also a lovely enclosed Courtyard where drinks/food are served in the Summertime. The hotel is ideally situated, just about a 5 minute walk from the main square and perhaps a 10 minute walk from the Castle, come out of the hotel and at the top of the street is all the shopping you could want, we loved the Pianola bar nearby, their hot spiced beer is definatley one to try, particularly on a cold Krakow evening.
To sum up, this is a lovely quirky yet modern hotel which has charm by the bucket full, it was love at first sight for us, so much that we are back again in May. Definatley one to try if you are visiting the beautiful city of Krakow.
