We were a group of 3 couples staying here in July, and we all loved it. Excellent helpful staff ( who speaks English which was very helpful especially when they called taxi for us and the taxi driver did not speak English..). Very good breakfast buffet, and they did not take it away if some were late for breakfast.. They even served scrambled eggs if you were half an hour past breakfast time. There were also two bottles of water for free on the room every day, and we also got water for free in the reception if we asked for it. The rooms were in excellent condition and the bathroom was very nice, though the room we stayed in wasn´t exactly spacious.. Outside the entrance to the reception there are chairs and tables belonging to the Mexican restaurant which is in the basement of Stara Karczma, ( you get a discount there on what you buy when staying at Stara Karczma), and where you can sit and have a beer or two and which we found to be very convinient before going out.. The Pensjonat is located in the Oliwa area, between Gdansk and Sopot which means you probably will have to take a taxi to get around, but that is really not a problem as mentioned above and the fact that taxi is very cheap in Poland. But in Poland you should never take a taxi that has no sign/ phonenumbers showing that it really is a taxi as you could end up getting robbed or paying way too much! All taxis have taxametres.
Gdansk is a beautiful city, and Sopot is great to go out and have fun. Gdynia was a boring city. Nice beaches anywhere along the coast of Gdynia, Sopot and to Gdansk. We did unfortunately not get to experience the beachlife as the sun was hiding most of the time we spent there, but from what we saw of especially Sopot this would be a great place for sunbathing..
