“Nothing to write home about”

This is a very basic hotel, but if you're only there for one night (like I was), this is sufficient. The male receptionist that checked me in was miserable and acted as if this job was a form of punishment for him. At first, he didn't want to speak in English and went for Polish, but later in the evening, when I spoke in Polish, he decided to speak in English. Then it was back to Polish in the morning...
The room was very small, with two single beds. Bathroom was also small, but this was fine for me. The most important thing is that everything was clean. You also get free wi-fi in the room, which isn't common in some big chain hotels.
Breakfast was included in the price, however, apart from some cold meats, tomatoes, and cheese, there wasn't much more on offer. There wasn't even any staff in the retaurant to ask for some freshly cooked eggs.
Would I stay here again? Probably not. There's a Mercure next door which looks a bit more inviting.

This hotel offers decent value in a good location in the up and coming city of Ostrava.The restaurant offers reasonably priced meals-not cordon bleu but certainly very acceptable and plentiful.Rooms were large and comfortable.The English speaking reception staff were ver helpful as were all the staff we met.Hotel within a few minutes from the coty centre and the vibrant Stodolni Street.Good basic standard with staff with old fashioned -and commendable-values.I would happily stay there again.

Hotel Maria has had a lick of paint.

I booked in at reception for 3 nights after a long journey. I gave my key on the first morning at 11 am, the reception girl, told me that they had only in fact had rooms for one night and that I needed to be out by 12.

Obviously they decided to grab my cash for 1 night and fill the space take my money for that single night and then churn me out.

I would say, bring a tent to Ostrava, or best still don't even bother. Ostrava has a tacky bar street, its not quite got the idea in a big way.
