If, like us, you like to stay away somewhere a bit away from the city centre, this is a good choice. It's tucked away behind Mendel's monastery (and round the corner from the Strarobrno brewery), about 10 minutes uphill to the castle and 15 minutes into town. The rooms are quite small but clean and comfortable. We took advantage of the breakfast they offer - there was enough left over from the meat and cheese option to make sandwiches for lunch - but what the website doesn't tell you is that there is a well equipped kitchenette where you can make your own food if you want.

Brno, basically, is a very intense city with awesome czech pubs and clubs that can't be found in other countries (maybe in Poland? Still didn't check that)... of course the way the city is seen and lived also depends on the traveller's attitude. Anyway, I like to discover the city, participate to its life as much as it's possible; and at the end of the day I usually need peace and calm.

Pension Na Starem Brne is the best place to get some relax at the end of a long day in Brno. It's located near to the city center (20-30 min if you like to walk, or 5-10 min by tram) next to the Basilica of the Assumption of Our Lady and the monastery in which Gregor Mendel carried out his famous and funny experiments. Oh, and on the other side there's a restaurant with a fantastic garden terrace.
The room was very nice and clean, I had no problem with warm water in the shower, the bed was surprisingly comfortable.

If you need some calm and nice place to sleep in Brno, don't miss this place. And if you're there, don't miss asking for a coffee - it's again just... aaaaaawesome!

A note about mosquitos: if one of them appear in your room, you have to swap it twice. For some mysterious reason mosquitos in Brno seem always surviving the first swap. As soon as you swap them the second time, they die.

Room tip: I'm not sure if they have rooms on the south side - I just have a feeling that they have. :I Anyway, if you need complete silence, rooms on the south side are a better choice. Rooms on the north side directly look to the restaurant's garden terrace thus the talk and chattering of the resto guests, or the background music can be bothering.

A great visit staff could not be more helpful let is borrow a guide book and supplied umbrella for a rainy day.Room basic and clean, attached shower room almot as large as bedroom. location central and easy to find if you use google street viiew first, 5 minute walk to exhibition center and under 10 to town center and castle Spilbeck.
Brekfats filling and very reasonable price and can not beat price on room in Brno during June.
Negatives really picky but no plug fo sink in bathroom and in summer next to a bar and church so a little noisey at night and at 6Am as bell rings for mass. Not an issue if you keep windows closed.
As for Brno if you stay in June/July a little tip, bring Mossie repelant and cream get bitten every time.

Excellent staff, who went above and beyond their call of duty, delicious home made breakfast-made to order, free internet and on-site computer to use, short walk to the castle and city center. Easy tram ride from the train station...take tram 1 Bystrc and get off at Mendlovo namesti, walk towards the church, go behind it and you are there in less than 10 minutes. By your tram ticket from the 'Relay' stand in the train station for only 20 CZK's. You won't find a cleaner hotel in Brno and the location can't be beat. Don't pass up the chance to stay at this amazing facility.

Room tip: Cozy facility with 7 rooms...I stayed in the single and it was roomy, bright, cozy and clean.

Very simple but comfortable pension (B&B) close to wonderful beer pubs just around the corner and center of Brno. Great wine cellar just next door.
Get the breakfast-home made!
Remember to visit the cathedral and the castle.

Room tip: All are quite and simple
