I went to Brno from the 4th to the 6th December 2010. Once you arrive at the airport you just need to take bus n 76 to the city center and then the tramway number 1 to get to the pension. the tram takes about 3 minutes. The pension is in a quiet area of the city and it is next to a huge cathedral. the hotel used to be a monastry and now it keeps its style.
The people at the reception are wonderful and very helpful. the following day we wanted to go toPrague and they looked on internet the bus timeable and the availability for us.They also gave us the tramway tickets to go to the city center. Moreover they recommended us a very nice restaurant "the Skanzen". This restaurant is 3 minutes from the pension and it is typical, welcoming and cheap. The pension is 5 minutes walking from the castle in a nice area. we were two girls and we felt safe.
the rooms are very clean and very hot. You can also make tea whenever you want. If you missed something, next to the reception there is a kind of cupboard where there are soaps, toothpaste, etc that you can take and pay in a little iron box for a very cheap price. I definitely recommend this tiny, lovely place. thanks
Francesca

This is a lovely place, with friendly staff and comfortable rooms. The breakfast made to order, served in the rooms was an especially nice touch, making you feel like royalty!

The location (on Mendlovo square, behind the church and below the castle) and the pension's linear layout was, for us anyway, the best of both worlds: it was very quiet at night and we hardly heard other guests, but just a minute walk to the tram stops, or a 15 minute walk to the castle. The showers were good with plenty of hot water. The only slight downside was some of the bathroom fittings were a little old and in need of repair.

All in all you'd be hard pushed to find a more charming pension in Brno. Highly recommened

My stay at the Pension Na Starem Brne was a quick overnighter while in town attending a friend's concert. It's a little tricky to find this pension the first time, so make sure you have printed the map on their website! I arrived from the Brno railway station by tram and it took a couple minutes to get my bearings once at the tram stop. The pension is in an historic building behind a church. The building is bigger length-wise than expected considering that they have only five rooms. My room itself was way bigger than expected, it even had a separate foyer. I stayed in room 7 which was at the far end of the building from the lobby. The one downside to this distant room was that the WiFi signal did not reach. No problem to go out and sit in the corridor with the laptop but this would have been a hassle if staying for any length of time. They cook a breakfast to order for you and deliver it to your room at a pre-appointed time. A really nice touch and a great way to end my short stay. Bottom line: I liked this pension, would like to get back to Brno in the future when I have some time to explore the town, and would certainly stay at the Pension Na Starem Brne again.

Adjacent to the Old Town (an easy walk), just off the Mendlovo Namesti (Mendel Square) tram stop. A 6 minute tram ride from the rail station on Tram #1. This cute pension is on the back end of a church and features modest rooms (some with private baths) and a very kind staff. Breakfast (which you can customize) is brought to your room every morning and is tasty and appealing to the eye.

We paid $32/night (without breakfast) and $34/night with. The owner, Misha, who's English is a little incomplete makes up for it in enthusiasm and acts of kindness. (He gave us a lift to an Internet Cafe one day).

This is not a fancy place but is certainly adequate for most people that are looking for a good value.

The only tiny negative is that, like a lot of places in the Czech Republic, the full-sized water heaters are suspended above you in the bathroom (mine was over the shower) -- something that took a little getting used to.
