We absolutely loved our 3 nights staying at Botel Matylda. I can honestly say that it is one of my favourite places that I have stayed in anywhere on my travels so far.
Initially I was a little concerned that the location would be a bit far from the sites but it turned out to be perfect - very quiet but not too far off the beaten track, close to Karlovo namesti metro stop and about a 15 minute walk to the centre of the old town, which we walked 2 of our 4 days in the city. Travelling from Prague airport, get the number 100 bus to Metro B which takes you directly yo Karlovo namesti.
We requested a river view room upon booking, which I would highly recommend doing as each morning we were greeted with beautiful views of the skyline including a great view of the castle across the river, and we able to watch the ducks and swans swim by. The same can be said for breakfast - sitting watching the swans and looking across the river was so relaxing and a beautiful way to start the day.
I would also recommend eating in the restaurant, we ate their on a Tuesday evening when there was a jazz night on and the atmosphere was brilliant. The service and the food were top quality, and the decor inside the restaurant boat is just as charming as the decor in the rest of the botel.
Overall we had an absolutely fantastic stay at Botel Matylda and plan to return again, I cannot recommend it highly enough. In terms of value for money, location, facilities (free wifi was also great), sleep quality (beds were comfy and we were able to adjust the thermostat to cool the room down to our liking) and character everything is 5* and I honestly can't think of one single thing I would request the management to change or improve upon. Prague is a magical city and, as another reviewer has said, Botel Matylda really does make you feel like you are staying in a fairy tale, if just for a few days!
Room Tip: Request a river view room.
