“Nice hotel & good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 March 2008

Stayed at Design Merrion Hotel for 4 nights in March 2008. The hotel was very nice and the location was close to the tram line 9 which was a good connection into the city. The room was ok and the bathroom was spacious and always clean and had a great bathtub. The beds were guite hard, but you were stil able to sleep without having to turn all the time. The location was in a guiet residential area which was good since you could hear the noices from the street throught the windows. If you are a light sleeper be prepared that there will be some noices early in the morning. The best part of the room was the free safe which was really easy to use. We also enjoyed the late breakfast which was served til 10.30 on weekdays. The breakfast buffet's selection wasn't overly large, but everything they served as fresh and they always brought more when something run out. We can also recommend the hotel's taxi service. They charged 750 CZK for a ride to the airport. You paid the money to the hotel and then the driver came and drove you to the airport. Very easy and you don't have to worry how much the driver will charge you. That would of been worth using for also the ride from the airport into the hotel.

  • Liked — Free safe & late breakfast
  • Disliked — Noices from the street could be heard into the room

“Excellent little hotel”

My wife and I stayed her for 3 nights over Hallowee'n and we were both highly satisfied. The rooms are a good size, beds are very comfortable and the most excellent shower. LCD TV but with only CNN Europe to watch but hey, your in a beautiful city, who needs TV. The buffet breakfast was excellent and they even offered scrambled and fried egss along with frankfurter sausages for those who might pine for a more traditional breakfast. The staff all had a smattering of the English language and were all very polite and friendly. Alas no residents' bar per se but they will serve drinks to you in the very intimate but small lobby. The deal we got here was great, €99 per room per night including breakfast. The hotel is only 3 minutes walk to the nearest tram stop and the No. 9 takes you right into Wencelas Square. (The No. 9 changes to 58 for the night tram, remember that!) The Hotel is a bit out of the centre of town which is actually quite good as it is so quiet as it situated in a very nice quiet residential area, yet the city is easily accesible . Overall we had a wonderful few days in Prague, a beautiful city and the hotel was excellent.

“great mini break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2007

The Design Merrion is a new contemporary hotel in a quite residential street. The decor is very modern. The bathroom was a wet room and there was a free digital safe, very handy.
Continental breakfast. No bar at hotel,so we had our night cap at a local pizzeria.Very cheap food too 2 courses pasta/pizza plus wineand tip£10.When we arrived from the tram we were a little concerned about the street but our fears were dismissed as we arrived at the hotel. The street is being re-built with modern apartments.Dont be put off because its out of town slightly.Easy transport from airport.119 bus, then green line metro, then short tram journey.Booked via Spendia.com although had to pay taxes which wasnt mentioned still good price,about£32 pppn inc breakfast. We was two ladies travelling but felt safe.3 day travel pass from airport 220kc.Spotlessly clean hotel and wouldnt hesitate to recommend.Great value mini break.

  • Liked — clean,comfort,modern,inexpensive
  • Disliked — Arriving but only at first,no problems, really.no bar but mini bar

“Great place to stay, but...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2007

We stayed here for 4 nights in the beginning of August. Prague is known for it's high rate of car thefts, so our main concern was to find a hotel that offered a private parking. The Merrion Hotel advertises with: "The hotel offers a private car park and garages."
Well, they don't. There are some parking space right in front of the recption, but they are just public and are NOT owned by the hotel. There is a private carpark down the street where you can park for €10-€25 per day, but this is also not property of the hotel. We were not keen on leaving our car out on the street, but we also didn't want to pay so much money for a parking so in that way, the hotel really disappointed us.
The room itself was cosy, with minibar and safe. The breakfast was excellent, and the room very trendy. The bathroom was quite big, with a rainfall shower and very clean.Pretty luxorious, though price-quality not the best hotel we ever stayed in.

  • Liked — The breakfast
  • Disliked — The parking that wasn't a parking

“The Hotel Merrion is fantastic”

This is such a nice hotel, quiet and air conditioned. The bed are extremely comfortable. There is free broadband if you have a laptop. There is a safe and mini bar. There is a flatscreen tv in the room and if you want to watch extra channels you can buy a remote from the reception (Smoovie system). The room prices are very reasonable and I stayed there for 14 nights and got a free room upgrade. The hotel itself is 5 mins walk from a tram stop. There is a large supermarket 3 mins walk from the hotel where you can buy almost anything.A half litre bottle of premium Czech beer is 25pence 10Kr. The price paid for the room was the same as I paid at the Three Crowns hotel and the room is double the size and far more luxurious here.

  • Liked — comfortable, clean and air conditioned
  • Disliked — nothing
