Well, this guest house is in a good location and the room was spacious. Here endeth the praise for the guest house 'At Golden Tree' . We never made it to breakfast so I cannot comment on that.
It is very difficult to get accomodation in Prague for a decent price, and this place is affordable and seemed good, and not too far from the centre but in a quiet area and also close to the Castle and Old Town. However, unless you are on the very, very tightest of budgets, do yourselves a favour and do not stay here. My boyfriend and I were on an interrailing holiday for 21 days, we stayed here for 3 unfortunate nights, the place ruined Prague for me because I was bitten by bedbugs. We had brought a sleepingbag liner/ sleeping sack with us because of other travellers' tales about HOSTELS, you would think a guest house would not have these problems. However even after the first night i could feel numerous bites, on my back, stomach and hips, there were more after the second night and even more on the third. They stayed around for another week and were incredibly itchy and looked awful. I am susceptible to insect bites more than others, my bf had far fewer bites (just 2!) but still I feel this is unacceptable. I at first thought they were mosquito or midge bites but it became apparent every morning that it was the bed. And this is USING a cotton sleeping sack remember. Goodness knows what it would have been like without. The bed itself, to add insult to injury, was uncomfortable, it was made of foam and it was 2 singles pushed together instead of a double. Further criticism is that the room was very gloomy, with small windows, the bathroom was very strange- one's head was almost on the ceiling when having a shower because the bath was raised up and the ceiling low- all right except the 'ceiling' was bare wooden rafters with loose wiring hanging down. It looked like a death trap, but we survived...this was an aesthetic criticism more than anything.
I did think of complaining on leaving and refusing to pay or asking for a discount, but the landlady did not seem to speak very much English at all, if any, and I realised that i could not prove that the bites were from bed bugs in their guest house. So we left, glad to be leaving there if sad to leave the beautiful city. I am aware that you do not spend too much time in your room during a city break but here, we did not want to spend ANY time even at night! Stay away, pay a little bit more and stay somewhere clean, safe and pest free. Make the best of your holiday and splash out- it's the last time I'm going to save the pennies in such a way. By the way, all the hostels we stayed in all over Europe, even the cheapest, were far better than this place and I had no more bed bug experiences in any of them I am glad to say.
It is worth noting that our room was in the annex of the guest house rather than the main building so I cannot vouch for the situation in any of these other rooms, I would not want to unfairly brand the whole place with the same mark, I am simply reporting our experience based on one visit.

Dear Guest,
Frankly speaking I do not remember you, but I have to comment on your review. You claim we had bedbugs although you cannot prove it.If you cannot prove it, you should not make statements like that. We had NEVER any bed bugs at all. If there is anything true in your lenghty description then I would guess you brought them with you in your belongings and took them away with you when leaving. You also claim I cannot speak English, I can assure you my English is good enough to discuss an issue like this. This should be a place for serious discussion, not fabrications and revenge (but what for"). Owner
