Location was quite far to the old town areas---and in a rather seedy area. Room was tiny and the bathroom amenities were a joke---only cold water two out of threedays, and a shower that was absurd. Breakfast was only average. Service staff was adequate---not special.

I travel rather alot and had problems finding a hotel near the centre of Prague which was good value and which had good reviews. In fact, it took me a few hours as central, cheap and well considered do not make for a common combination in Prague.

I am thankful I did as from the moment we arrived, we were made to feel very welcome and were impressed with the facilities and how well the hotel was run. The lady on the front desk couldn't do enough for me - a wifi password, map, directions. The room had twin beds - we were looking for a double. But after mentioning this to reception, our room had a double duvet the next day. We were also grateful for other considerations - the cleaner came early the first day and we were lying in. She came later for the rest of our stay - nice touch. The wifi dropped out a few times, so reception gave me a LAN cable to use. Breakfast is continental style with plenty to choose from. It is a pleasant 15 minute walk along the river to the centre, try paying these prices a 15 minute walk from the centre of London.

If I were to look for criticisms,it is a red light area, but they keep themselves to themselves and we never felt threatened. It could be nearer to the centre, but not very much. The room got a little warm and the thermostat didn't seem to do anything.

Also be weary of the chinese restaurant across the road who have a special tourist menu at four times the price. What you see in the window is not on the menu until you work out what is happening and are about to leave when a new menu magically appears. Not a fault of the hotel, however.

On the whole though, we really enjoyed our stay here and you won't regret booking - it's excellent value.

Prague's a funny little place. u either love it or hate it. Our hotel was chosen on the basis that it was close to the charles bridge, which fair enough, it is. Still, it's a good 20-30min walk and the hotel isn't located in the most bustling of areas - meaning, it's quiet and not some place I'd like to be walking around after dark.

A couple of bars located around the hotel. there's a thai restaurant on the corner of the block. a convenience store across from the hotel. Hospitality is kinda cold, typically Eastern European... breakfast is quite dull. The rooms are nicely set up. The lift only fits a poodle....but that's ok. The stairs are wide enough for me to drag the bags up. About the lift, ok, it's not that small, but it can only fit one full grown adult and one medium sized suitcase.

Aircon didn't really work....not sure if it's the european way...seems like no one has their aircons functioning in winter. Reception told me to open the windows. Thanks for the tip, buddy.... i love hearing the sound of cars rumbling down the 19th century cobble stone roads that pretty much run thru most parts of central Prague.

Not the best of locations. Un-happening part of town. Close to the river and the local metro.

We enjoyed 4 nights stay in Hotel Manes. We booked last minute so it was good value for a standard double at 277 Euro for the 4 nights. We had a relaxing time. The bed was two singles pushed together so I wasn't mad about that, I like to get a double bed when I book a double room. 10-15 minutes walk to most areas in the old town. The hotel shows a jacuzzi as one of their facilities, but in fact it is part of the "Wellness centre" that is rented out by the company providing Thai massage, so you have to pay extra and book it through them. From the hotel photos I presumed it was available for us to use as hotel guests but it's not. When we went down to check out about using it, the girls in the "wellness centre" didn't really know what we were talking about (They hadn't much English and we hadn't any Thai) so we just left again. Our room was nice and clean, although a little small and faced out onto a dark small courtyard so not much light came in. I guess we could have asked to move but for the amount of time we would spend in the room it was fine. I wouldn't say this was a 4 star but it was nice for the price we got.
