The place is nice and the guests are kind people ready to guide you.
I have been there for 4 nights around the New Year's Eve (2011-2012) .
In every night for 4-5 hours the heating radiator stopped. We (me and my wife) announced from the first night the owner of the house but the situation was the same!
Imagine a room with 2 glass walls without heat in winter!!!!!! The only thing that we have notice was that the interval without heat was to a different time.
I would NOT go there in winter!

Having read other reviews and the high rating on Tripadvisor, we booked this guest house expecting a great stay. All the reports of the friendly owners is spot on. Jan wasn't there to meet us but picked us up from the airport after a 5 minute wait and gave us a quick midnight tour of the city by car on the way back to the guest house which helped us find our bearings.

After breakfast we were shown all the best places to go, how to get around etc which was very useful and appreciated. They provide everything from theatre bookings to transport tickets - great for a short break.

Our room was very big, with comfortable beds. The location is ok for public transport or walking into the centre (40 minutes at least). However, Lida was let down by the bathroom and towels. The bathroom was modern clean - it looked quite recently done - but there was no shower screen which meant you either flooded the floor when showering or showered kneeling in the bath. We resorted to having baths! The towels were old and slightly brillo-pad-like - great for exfoliating but could do with some new ones.

Breakfast was basic but adequate - simple cereals, yoghurt, ham, cheese, egg, fruit, good teas and coffee.

Location was on a very quiet residential road. The local restaurant recommended to us (Josefina) was convenient, cheap, ok food but rubbish atmosphere (and smoky even in the non smoking section). Would I stay here again? Probably not. Before booking, I came across a cheaper option further out. The tubes and trams are excellent and cheap so would probably try that.

From our early email correspondence, to their personal drop off back at the airport, my 22-year-old daughter and myself felt well taken care of by Jan and Jiri and their wives. Our room was simple but immaculate, and the daily breakfast featured fresh, high-quality meats, fruit and cheeses. Since Jan and Jiri had lived in Australia, and traveled quite a bit, their English was excellent, and their desire to help with local transportation, advice on activities or tickets, or restaurants was genuine. A short walk to the trolley, or to catch the subway. Felt very safe in the neighborhood. No wireless or TV if you must be on the grid. But they do have a computer with internet connection in a common space.

My mother and I stayed at Lida House for 2 weeks in November and loved our stay here. Jan, Jitka, Jiri, and Janna were such attentive hosts it felt like we were staying with family. They had lots of good advice on things to do in Prague and would make any arrangements we needed for concerts, tours, etc. They exchanged our money at no commission, stamped and mailed our post cards - Jan even drove us to one of the attractions to save my mother some walking time. I highly reccommend staying here.
