“Don't even think about staying here!”

We stayed in this hotel involuntarily, after being rebooked twice because of overbooking elsewhere. I would not advice this hotel at all, even though it looks nice and tidy, and the staff is very friendly. If your room happens to be situated at the inner courtyard, you can hear everything that goes on in the entire hotel. The rooms are not air-conditioned, so when the outside temperature is above 20 C, you will have to sleep with the window open. This also lets in the absolute disgusting smell of the brewery across the street. We were also not impressed with the admittance policy of the hotel. In the room right next to ours was a very noisy group of youngsters that made us feel we were staying in a youth hostel. I had to file four complaints spread out over two nights before it became quiet. The rooms could be dusted and vacuumed a bit more often and the bathroom had cobwebs and unfinished tiling. The hotel itself is situated in a run down neighborhood, which looked more like an industrial estate than a part of town. We had planned to sight-see Prague on foot and this hotel is simply too far away to walk to the centre. The only real advantages I could find in this hotel, were the nice shower and the friendly staff, who were quite able in English and German as well.

“A little gem”

I have just come back from a short break in Prague and stayed at Hotel Angelis for four nights.

The hotel is brand new, furnished with taste and the rooms were just perfect. We didn’t get one of those with the balcony (facing the courtyard) unfortunately – if you can, book one of those, they are perfect to chill out after a whole day walking in Prague.

There is free WI-FI (only available in the common areas on the ground floor though) if you need an internet connection in the room you need to bring your own laptop and the receptionist will give you the cable.

Breakfast was good, and the location was good too, 2 mins walk from nearest underground and tram stop literally 150 m from hotel. There’s also a big shopping centre at the other end of the underground station (it has two entrances)

The staff are really nice and helpful, they even printed out our flight boarding passes.

It’s not in a touristic neighbourhood, which makes it perfect if you want to experience the real city, rather than just the touristy bits of it.

I would definitely go there again. :)

“Lovely Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 May 2010

We stayed here in March, when it was freezing and snowing in Prague. It was easy to get to from the airport - get a bus to the metro and then to the nearest station. The hotel was walking distance from the metro, even in the snow and with luggage. It's opposite the Staropramen visitors centre so ideal for dropping off any souvenirs from there. The staff all spoke perfect English and were incredibly helpful. It is also near a bus and tram depot.

The best food that we had in Prague was actually the breakfast in the hotel (we didn't rate Czech food very much). It's in a very good location and if you feel like walking it's possible to get to the centre in aorund 30-40mins.

“Great location, although service leaves something to be desired”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 May 2010

While this hotel isn't in the city center, the tram stop is less than a block away to put you in Mala Strana, and the Metro is a block away to get you anywhere you need to go. The working brewery across the street has a great little restaurant, if accompanied by the pungent aroma of brewery operations. The downside was the front desk flatly refused to call and make reservations for us, stating "you won't need them, but you can call if you want". We had been advised by a local to get reservations, and ended up making them ourselves...

“Tahnk you, Angelis Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 April 2010

I just came back after staying for 6 nights. I picked this hotel for the price and location and most of all from reviews on this forum. The moment I went in the hotel I liked the classy decor , high ceiling, chandelier and furniture in a good space, and as I checked in the receptionist Jitka made me feel very welcome. They gave me a special room, Rm 26. The room was very spacious with a large balcony overlooking a inner courtyard. The bathroom itself was larger than most rooms I stayed in Europe. The room and everywhere was spic and span. The breakfast was good and very adequate and a breakfast lady kept it full and spotless all through the breakfast time.. The location is good. I liked the fact that it is a little away from the center of touristic spots however is in the very convenient area, very close to the tram stop and subway stop Andel (use the entrance at nearby bus depot and exit marked on "bus" side) and it takes only ten minutes to the center of the city. The transport fare is very cheap. A modern shopping center with a supermarket Tesco inside is nearby (subway Andel's other entrance and exit). The area may not look modern but I felt safe at night coming back to the hotel by myself. I also liked the area because I could see and feel Praha's ordinary citizens not tourists. Hotel Angelis is a rare find for it's price and quality in a very touristic Praha. . I was impressed with everything with the hotel especially four receptionists, Jitka, Tereza, Martin and Michal who were very courteous, friendly and helpful. Oh yes, they spoke excellent English. Overall I was very satisfied with the hotel. I could not believe that I paid only 168 euros for my stay. I have booked it through Booking.com. Although receptionists said the prices were going up but I still think this is one of the best hotels you can find in Praha. I can not thank Hotel Angelis enough for my enjoyable and comfortable stay in a beautiful city.
